This place is great!

Max was awesome. We had a party of 7 + a baby and he was the only person working the counter at the time, but that didn't matter because Max still provided excellent service.

The hot buttered rum was delicious. The food was incredible.

If we're ever back in Hobart, we'll definitely stop by here again!

Thank you 👍👍

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Hope & Anchor Hotel in Hobart! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, blending historic charm with a relaxed and friendly vibe.

The highlight of our visit was the delicious Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad, topped with rich mushroom gravy—cooked to perfection with a crispy golden crust and tender, juicy meat inside. The chips were fresh and crunchy, and the salad was crisp and refreshing, making for a well-balanced and satisfying meal.

To top it off, we enjoyed James Boags Draught beer, the perfect local brew to complement the meal. The beer was crisp, refreshing, and served perfectly chilled.

The service was friendly and efficient, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of. If you're in Hobart and looking for a great pub meal with a fantastic selection of drinks in a welcoming setting, The Anchor and Hope & Anchor Hotel is a must-visit! We’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely outstanding! The vibe was perfect, the staff were awesome and the food was on another level. The Beef Cheek Wellington is one of the best pub feeds I’ve ever had. Next time I’m in TAS I’ll be back here again!

Had the Seafood Platter for Two, costing $45. Fantastic tasting food. Lightly crumbed calamari, cold tiger prawns, charcoal prawns skewer, tempura battered fish, scallops and two fresh oysters, along with fresh, melt-in-your-mouth chips. Portion could have been slightly bigger, but it all tasted amazing. Am coming back here before we leave to taste their hot battered rum- apparently it tastes like a liquid warm apple pie!

5-Star Review

I had an incredible dining experience! The meal started with the Spring Rolls Adobo, a fantastic twist on a classic, with tender adobo filling wrapped in a perfectly crisp shell. The Pandesal was warm, fluffy, and the ideal complement to the starters.

For the mains, the Wellington Beef Cheeks were simply outstanding melt-in-your-mouth tender with a rich, flavorful crust. The Lechon Pork was just as impressive, with perfectly crispy skin and juicy, well-seasoned meat.

To finish, the Leche Flan was pure indulgence, smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness.

While the service was standard, the real standout was the chef, whose expertise and creativity truly made the meal exceptional. Highly recommend!

To Tom (Manager), Max (Bartender) and Alan (Head Chef), what an amazing venue. The best chowder I've ever tasted. That chicken schnitzel and smokey gravy was first class. Max, you're awesome mate and great to chat to Alan and Tom the Manager. The tour upstairs was next level and appreciated. Keep doing what you're doing. We'll be back. Jason and Kylie

Big Fan. We ventured in as it's the Oldest Establishment in Australia. And happily discovered that there IS atmospheric life in this Ol Gal! The SIDES ARE A MUST. Great food. Great Service. Plenty of menu options for most. Beer ain't bad, either if you're down for that sort of thing! #classicpub

Each time we have been in Hobart this pub wasn't open. Finally we timed it right. The hot buttered rum was good. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Staff were friendly and locals also visit the pub.
