Such a quiet and unassuming looking restaurant but oh my goodness, the meals are outstanding. We stopped in for a late breakfast and was faced with a challenge - what to choose from the many, interesting options! I ordered the Grilled Sourdough with a potato croquette on the side. The meal consists of grilled Sourdough with huon hot smoked salmon, avocado, poached egg, spinach, hollandaise sauce, and beetroot jam with pomegranate seed as garnish. The latter was a delightful addition and the beetroot jam absolutely moreish. All in all, a lovely combination of tastes and flavours and beautifully presented. My friend ordered the Smashed Avo with salmon and a potato croquette on the side and was equally please with her meal. The interior is quite interesting and quaint and very different from the usual commercialised venues - and we did not feel rushed. A pleasant experience all around.

We had a very pleasant High Tea at The Duchess outside in the garden. The highlights were: very friendly and polite, generous servings, pretty cups and saucers, all the food was nicely flavoured and presented, looked pretty. Price was super good value!
Minor downside was just slightly messy-not dainty sandwiches and a modern teapot that didn't go with the cups and saucers. Highly recommend!
Be aware you need to book ahead by a day for High Tea.

We had an amazing brunch! The food came super fast! Much recommended to try their burgers and potatoes croquettes! All of which were top quantity, we will definitely come here again!

The coffee beans are great, I like latte and long black. Their brunch is delicious, and I recommend several brunch options to everyone.

We had a lovely lunch at the Duchess Cafe. The interior is charming, the service was friendly, and our food was great! My husband and I both had the vegetarian duke/duchess, which is essentially a vegetarian “big” breakfast and appreciated the vegetarian option! Our son loved his babycino, too! We’re looking forward to visiting again!

This brunch, in my personal opinion, the best one in Hobart. Me and my partner visit at least twice a month. They offer a different special meal every weekend, always surprising us, and the portions are generous. The coffee is also excellent ( I recon honey+oat coffee 😏), and the staff friendly. In all, the Duchess cafe is a place that well worth your time to enjoy!

Rang up to book a spot for 8 people, easily accommodated us. Food was absolutely top shelf. I ordered the Sour Dough with eggs bene, smoked salmon and beetroot jam. Coffee was delicious.
