Just driving into the drive way is like coming home. We have stayed here as a family several times over the years and could not think of a better place to stay. Everything is catered to our needs (3 kids, 2 adults) So cosy, clean and beautiful. The kids love playing outside on the trampoline and swings and talking to the sheep. So quiet and we love the country atmosphere. The bath is divine, upstairs is warm and inviting.All the little extras really make our stay so special, the lolly jar, spices for cooking and the music placing on arrival. Sue and Derek are the best hosts we have ever met and we are already planning our next stay. Thank you for making special memories for us.

We cannot begin to describe how amazing the little cottage was! Clean, comfortable, peaceful, homely and when you woke up in the morning, it was the birds and the sunlight softly filtering through the tree’s that welcomed you to the new day! Sue and Derek thought if everything - Whenever you thought you might need something all you needed to do was open a cupboard or look into a shelf and it was there - just like you would find it at home! I would say this was the best experience we have had! Sue and Derek are wonderful hosts! Really made our trip to Burnie- only a 10min away and Cradle Mountain - approx 1hr! Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back - hopefully soon 🙂

We have booked Hideaway retreat for the week because we are working in the area, but were surprised to find it is the perfect place for a holiday. The house is very clean and decorated with discrete charm typical of someone with an artistic eye. Kitchen is superbly equipped, bathroom tidy and functional, and the farm-like surrounds are a delight. The hosts (Sue and Derek) are as lovely as can be and leave us to ourselves behind the sweet-smelling gardens. We will be back - even if it's for boring old work.

We have stayed in a fair few places, but Hide-Away cottage puts the others to shame. Literally a barn converted into a cozy, country cottage, it is filled with charming touches, including one of the hosts' very own (quite incredible) artwork. ||They have thought of everything down to the smallest detail. Clean towels? Check. Fresh bedding? Wine glasses and a complimentary carafe waiting your arrival? Check. Every basic pot, pan and dish you may need? Check! ||||Available in the cottage you have a decent tv, dvd player (with a selection of dvd's if you didn't bring your own), cd player, hair dryer, iron, washing machine, clothesline and pegs, board games for the rainy days, kettle, microwave, gas stove and oven, wood stove for the chilly Tassie nights, enough beds for everyone, even your basic cooking spices in the kitchen!||||The cottage is literally surrounded by flowers and greenery, I assume this is where the name was born! And the hosts, Sue and Derek, are quite possibly the loveliest hosts in Tasmania. They are so friendly and welcoming, it was like visiting relatives (the NICE ones, haha!) ||||Their own personal home is on the same property, a 30 second walk from your cottage should you need anything. Our 2 sons LOVED the sheep and chickens, and admittedly I fell in love with the spa bath!||||The next time we visit our relatives in Burnie I won't need to look for accommodation, I already know where we will be staying! I'd give this place 100 starts. but for Trip Advisor, 5 will have to do.

This two storey self contained cottage just outside of Burnie is just Devine. It is run by two charming people who have done everything possible to ensure you have the best stay possible. The upstairs bedrooms are roomy and very comfortable while the downstairs living area makes you feel like you want to stay forever. The grounds have both sheep and chickens and if you have young kids you can go on an egg hunt. This is the perfect place to base yourself when exploring the area.

Lovely views out of every window in this country cottage, spacious and clean. Very well-equipped. My son enjoyed feeding the sheep, collecting eggs from the chickens and jumping on the trampoline. Overall, an enjoyable stay in the peace and quiet of the country. The hosts were extremely friendly and very approachable.

We spent two nights here with our children and it was just perfect. There was so much for our little ones to do and Derek went out of his way to taken them out to feed the sheep and chickens. There were books, magazines and activities indoors and out for kids. We will definitely be back. Thank you Derek and Sue.

A country cottage experience with winter frost outside while the wood fire keeps it cosy on the inside. A slow relaxed pace of life with pleasant lawn and wooded surrounds to spread out and enjoy a bit of outside recreation. We used the BBQ... yes even in winter. Plenty of parking for more than one vehicle and trailers. Only 5 min drive down into Burnie. Unfortunately the current owner has taken ill and the property is up for sale. Let's hope the new owner keeps the experience alive (17/01/20).
