Do not pass this place by, it was just lovely, checking in was simple and the accommodations was just what I expected, beautifully quaint and well maintained. I thought I had stepped back in time. Plus the beds were very comfy and had all the amenities needed. The town is a short walk and it was very peaceful, just what we needed after driving the East Coast of Tasmania. Thank you for allowing me to feel a part of history.

Opened the door and faced a set of steep stairs with no hand rail. I would not like to carry a big bag up them and certainly not down. The room was in the roof so the ceiling was low with plenty of things to bang your head on. Overall the place needs decorating as it is very run down and past it best. |However, whilst you could try to cover over some of the problems by saying it’s an old building and we are try to keep things in the style of the building, you cannot excuse the fact that the room needed a good clean. The bedside table was thick with dust, the bathroom had a layer of thick dust, the table in the “kitchen” section had food over it. When you are running a business you need to put some effort in.|The only saving grace was that the shower was good.|Would not return.

We loved the experience and atmosphere staying in this beautiful accommodation.
It's very special to stay in Barracks originally built by convicts and to take in the history.
We can't wait to come back and keep exploring.

Stayed 2 nights with family including a toddler and grandparents. Enjoyed the historic decorations, furniture and comfortable beds.
Exceptional hospitality, Terry responded immediately to all my phone calls, text messages and emails. I really appreciated the personal handwritten notes from Terry and Lynn in the welcome basket.

Had an enjoyable 2 night stay. We were comfortable and warm and felt safe and secure.
We do think that some handrails attached to wall on stairs could be useful.

I have stayed at Sorell Barracks several times, including last month. I love the place. It's very comfortable, clean, close to the airport, and quiet. It's an historical heritage listed place, and it feels very special to step in time in the lovely rooms. The owners Terry & Lynn and very friendly and helpful. I'm hoping to stay there again next year.

Our stay was outstanding from my first contact to our welcome note and then our final good bye five days later. Our accommodation was very comfortable with furnishing appropriate to the era. The kitchen had all that we required. A welcome basket was appreciated as was the text from Lynn offering to do our washing. It is within an easy walk to the local hotel and cafes. Off street parking is available and it has lovely grounds. A book exchange set up in the garden was a nice surprise. I would highly recommend this site.
