The Tasman is truly an exceptional hotel and was one of the highlights of our stay in Hobart. The property is new, modern, and absolutely luxurious in every detail. The service from the staff was outstanding — warm, professional, and attentive throughout our stay.||Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The gym is one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel — top notch equipment and facilities. There are also plenty of other thoughtful amenities that really elevate the experience.||Breakfast was incredible — a huge variety of high-quality options that really set the day off right. And don’t miss the speakeasy-style bar attached to the hotel — it’s a phenomenal spot for a drink with a great atmosphere.||The location is unbeatable if you’re staying in Hobart — right in the heart of everything but still feels like a peaceful retreat. Absolutely would stay here again without hesitation.

From the moment you are welcomed at the door to have your bags retrieved by Madeleine to the thoughtful and attentive Daniel on reception my daughter and I were guided to our individual rooms. One in the pavilion and my favourite, a heritage room. Comfortable and spacious. Our breakfast had a good variety and Shelley guided us with selections. The in house bar Mary Mary was a delightful surprise and very welcomed. All staff were most helpful during our stay, particularly James and Sean. We were totally spoilt.

We stayed at the Tasman Hotel in Hobart for one week in mid-March 2025 as part of a memorable 37 day visit to Australia. We were attracted to the Tasman by its central location steps from the harbour and Hobart’s many great attractions, restaurants and shops and by its attractive rate for extended stays of one week or longer. We had also made the decision to use Hobart as a base for day trips to Cradle Mountain, Freycinet National Park and Port Arthur and the Tasman peninsula, rather than move around Tasmania with our luggage, a decision that we did not regret. The Tasman is of a luxury standard and a beautiful hotel in three distinctive buildings and we enjoyed an upper floor room in the Deco wing with an inspiring water view. Our room was well appointed and quiet and the bathroom was of the highest standard. The ideal location of the hotel deserves further comment. It is located directly across the street from Daci & Daci, probably the finest bakery in Hobart, where we enjoyed all our breakfasts except when we were on early morning tours. It is also only a block from the Salamanca Market and the MONA ferry. The one weakness of the Tasman during our stay was the inconsistency of service from front desk and concierge staff members; we quickly learned to work around the problem by handling restaurant reservations and other logistics ourselves. Overall and the service issue aside, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Tasman which worked out very well for us and we would recommend it, particularly with a water view in the Deco wing.

If you want to know what it feels like to be treated like royalty, book a room here. Seriously, I've stayed in a few fancy joints in my time, but this place takes the cake.

From the moment you walk in, the service is impeccable. Like, they've got this knack for anticipating your every need before you even know you have one. You feel like you're the only guest in the entire hotel, even though it's buzzing.

The rooms? Every detail, from the linens to the artwork, is top-notch. It's like stepping into a design magazine, but you can actually live in it. And the hotel itself? A masterpiece. Every corner you turn, there's something else beautiful to look at.

But it's the service that really sets this place apart. They know how to treat their guests, plain and simple. It's not just about being polite, it's about making you feel genuinely welcome.

We were given fantastic service right from the check in experience, valet parking, even guest services with our room.

The Tasman also kindly upgraded our room to the St David Park Suite which is amazing. The room is very spacious, warm with character and also has great ensuite bathroom with timber bath tub!

The only missing piece was swimming pool, but the hotel staff were very attentive to ensure our young kids had activities during our stay with colouring etc

Breakfast at Peppina was great, probably could be better if they vary the menu slightly as we were there for 4 days

We will definitely come back to this wonderful place

The room was comfortable and well-appointed with a nice view, and the hotel has a subtle warmth to its decor. The check in staff and concierge were friendly and helpful. The main Italian restaurant is quite good and the breakfast was well done. The bar is trying too hard to be trendy and the service speaks more to arrivistes than guests just looking to enjoy a drink or solo meal—honestly rather disappointing. Overall it would seem the best option in Hobart and quite strong for a small city, though I’m not sure on what list they could claim to be top 50… Aman or Rosewood or a Peninsula it is not.
