For over 29 years of staying in B and Bs, this got to be one of the best. We were planning to stay overnight but we end up changing our plan to stay for another night. Merylyn is a perfect host, warm and caring, provide you with all the local info and more importantly making sure all guests have a fantastic time staying at La Riviera. All rooms have a different thyme, spotless clean, comfortable bed, and a nice view. The garden is well manicured. There also a common rest area where guests can make a cup of tea, make a snack, watching TV, or simply reading a book in comfort. We certainly can recommend to our friends.

I chose to stay at La Riviera as it is located close to Austins Ferry. Arriving late from Melbourne I was greeted by Merilyn who had prepared some pumpkin soup for me. My room The Arabian was extremely comfortable, quiet and opulently decorated. It has a roomy ensuite complete with washing machine. Breakfasts are a grand affair in an elegant glass fronted room overlooking the Derwent River. A very comfortable lounge room is also available for guests. Prepare to be spoiled in a quiet and beautiful location.

We recently spent time at La Riviera (Hobart Tasmania). We thoroughlyenjoyed every second we spent there. The set up is magnificent - the extremely comfy (and spotless) rooms with the sort of beds which induce a really good night's sleep, the spacious and wonderful lounge area which encourages relaxation, the view of the Derwent which is mesmerising (watch the sunrise), and the breakfasts which are beyond delicious! Our objective on this trip was to 'do the minimal' and catch up with friends. La Riviera succeeded in providing both - just out of town yet close to everything. We loved coming 'home' after each outing. La Riviera is one of those places you look forward to coming back to! The obvious joy Merylyn gets from running her B&B as she individualises everyone's experience is what La Riviera is all about. Merylyn goes out of her way to ensure her guests thoroughly enjoy every aspect of their stay. In that way La Riviera is unique in the most positive way. Thank you Merylyn for pampering us!

Our experience at La Riviera was far beyond expectations. Our superbly decorated||Oriental room was spotless and opulent. Our lovely host had catered for every need.||The breafast was totally divine - a grand affair in a most elegant setting overlooking the Derwent River at Granton. Having spent 2 months abroad staying at many B&B's, we can categorically state that La Riviera was far superior to most. Highly recommended.

Thanks to all the glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, we called La Riviera at the last minute after a visit to the nearby Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). What an incredible find! Merylyn welcomed us warmly welcomed despite arriving after dark. She showed us around the common area, telling us to help ourselves to the open bar and snacks in the kitchen. We passed, but would have loved to had we been able to stay another night. We stayed in the chic Parisian room and found everything immaculate and comfortable: great linens, comfy bed, plenty of hot water. A spectacular water view awaited us in the morning along with a lavish breakfast of homemade and home-grown items. Way more than we could eat, but we gave it our best try. All was delicious. Be sure to get Merylyn to call Lucky, the little bird she rescued who now flies in and out of the house, coming to her call to perch on her shoulder and eat from her hand. Merylyn and Peter may sell the property soon, so enjoy while you can. A complete delight. (We're just back from 3 months of travel, so I'm a little late reviewing. La Riviera is first up, though.)

Luxuriously appointed rooms overlooking the River Derwent. Lounge with free drinks (and not your supermarket specials either) hot drinks, chocolates etc available all day. Even your own washing machine in the spacious bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic with a range of muesli, fresh and dried fruits, a choice of breakfast expertly cooked to order. Friendly helpful host obviously enjoys what she does. Eagerly awaiting our next visit at the Savoy of B&Bs Where you are welcome to come and go as you please.

I stayed at La Riviera on a recent visit to Hobart. The accommodation is excellent with great breakfasts and Merilyn is a wonderful hostess. My room was very luxurious with beautiful furnishings as well as a great view across the Derwent River. I highly recommend this accommodation.
