Having stayed at many Nightcaps across Australia in various areas, this has to be one of my least favourite.
It's not terrible by any means. It's just a bit old and very budget driven, which suits the area it is in.
The rooms are spacious and clean, but they are just very basic and an odd layout.
The pub is pretty average and again, like the rooms has a strange and pokies focused layout. The staff are very friendly, though, and well suited to the very local based clientele.

Always very happy when I stay here. The price is good, most of the staff are lovely and friendly, you are offered a free drink for your stay, you get 10% off dining. Can’t complain really. They’ve even put a sign on the emergency exit now as that door was so loud. They’re very considerate of guests compared to other hotels.

Had a great stay again and suddenly had to cancel 2 nights (4th and 5th) due to being called into work. I wanted to personally thank 2 of the lovely managers for going out of their way so much when it was busy to try to help me put a booking through that wouldn’t accept my card. They helped me understand why and never ever treated me like I was a bother for anything. They ask me how I am feeling, they care about your well being. It is very refreshing to be treated so nicely by most of the staff here. It’s not hard to be friendly 🙂

Hotel was great, didn’t realise it was situated over the top of a pub. But we didn’t research. The supreme king bed was the absolute best thing ever! So comfy and nice big comfy pillows! Sink to wash hands located in room not toilet which we found odd and cleaner only made 1 side of the bed not the other. But great friendly staff, clean room pretty darn good for the price!

I often have a medical procedure in Hobart town where I need to lay down immediately afterwards. I am so thankful that I am welcomed to check in early, eg 2.5 hours before the hours of check in time and keep coming back here due to this reason and of course how I am treated with such sincerity and kindness most of the time. There is one staff member though, Jane that I have seen numerous times over the last 5 months and a few of us customers feel very invisible to her. She literally looks straight through you like you don’t exist, it’s quite rude. I picked up that she isn’t the most customer friendly person and deliberately ignores patrons. I’ve not seen her serve either though so I could be wrong. I just saw another staff make up for it and I saw one staff member address her as if to try and hold her accountable however she just walked off and ignored him and seems to do what she wants. It’s none of my business really.. just something I always notice. It’s like us guests aren’t worthy of her interactions. It’s very strange. I feel that the handy man could be a bit more welcoming too …. if there’s a problem, it’s best to go to reception about it as I don’t think he takes us customers seriously and often forgets what you have asked him. A few times this has happened. Kindness is free and a sincere hello if you’re getting paid at the establishment isn’t hard to offer I think. Apart from that, I think it’s quiet and safe here.

I had a lovely stay at the Carlyle again and am very grateful to Kas, Sulove and AJ especially for going out of their way so much but not expecting anything for it in accomodating my needs when I’m off work and stay here as a paying customer. I feel we all deserve respect for existing 🙂 and not have to earn respect as a patron who are indirectly paying for the staff’s wages. Wendy and Kelly and the house keeping staff are so lovely and always go above and beyond too. Kas, the general manager is so great and always tries to put me in room 3 with the bath. THANK YOU. I really appreciate how you do this. Also, Sulove, thanks for spending so much time trying to help me with putting a booking through for me. I notice everything that each and everyone of you (or don’t do) and how you interact with me. I am trying to upload the sunrise views from here but they won’t go through. Ps AJ is doing an amazing job as a manager, he really is so lovely and friendly as a person and has never ever made mw feel like a burden or a trouble or that he’s “look- look- look what I’m doing for you- I shouldn’t do this but I will” eg “I am really going out of my way for you and I need to tell you that I am” (other acting manager can sometimes do this and it’s a bit frustrating.. I think it’s an ego thing as some days he’s very friendly and others he’s just meh.. we all have bad days tho). AJ though always enthusiastically makes such an effort to give eye contact, show respect and actively listen when addressing you with care and respect. He treats you like you’re not a waste of his time. It’s how it should be. Thanks guys.

I found the rooms and service to be great , the staff were very helpful and the room had all the comforts I needed and was clean and quiet .
I was staying for business so having plenty of parking and being close to my customers was great
