Serenity in the Tasmanian countryside.
The cottage has everything. It is warm comfortable and in a perfect setting. The animals are an added bonus coming to the gate for their treats and a pat.
The owners Kym and Kim have gone to all lengths to make sure we had a wonderful stay. There was freshly baked bread on arrival and an amazing apple cake part way through our stay. The breakfast provisions were great.
Beds were comfortable and the bath was amazing.
We loved to chat and learn about all the rescue animals and how the cottage came to be.
Thank you Kim and Kym

This place is amazing, a balm for the soul. All the animals came out to greet us on arrival, and I felt like I was in a Disney cartoon. The rooster called the alarm, and out came our lovely host Kim, along with her cute dogs... one of which happily rode on our laps as Kim led our car to the cottage. I was in animal heaven, and it really is a haven for these rescued creatures.
The cottage is beautiful, equipped with all we need, including freshly baked bread, butter and honey on arrival. The cottage is charming with personality, is surrounded by beautiful roses that smell divine, and we were free to roam the property which included a gypsy caravan and teepee made from tree branches. We also helped feed the animals, including ducks (and ducklings), geese, a peacock, ponies, donkeys, sheep, chickens and a rooster. There's also a shy platypus and we also saw some visiting pademelons.
Kim even let me pick two fresh peaches from one of their fruit trees that were ready to eat (yum!). ๐Ÿ˜
The hosts are generous, and their animals are so cute... and very cheeky. They each have character, love being fed (literally come running whenever you offer a treat), and are so sweet and beautiful. Chester the blind pony and Sparkles the toothless sheep are very sweet and don't mind pats even without food on offer. Trevor is a very vocal donkey who loves attention and food once he gets to know you. While usually quiet, both days we stayed he started whining to get our attention before hee-haw'ing, and we were in love. It tickles us that a donkey can have such a personality, and he came with Donkey (his friend) to see us off when we were leaving, whining and then sulking when he realized we were going for good. It was so cute and we were sad to leave.
Will definitely have to come back and stay for longer. Thanks Kim and Kym!

Simply magical. This stay was an absolute gem, and while I want it all to myself forever, I feel it would be unfair not to share such a wonderful experience.
I could smell sweet roses in the air as we entered the driveway and upon arrival, the rooster started calling for everyone on the farm to gather and meet the new visitors. They all came at once. Two beautiful dogs, Shiba and Harlo racing up to our car first before our lovely host Kim and all the other animals reached us and gave a warm welcome. Harlo jumped up into the car and onto my lap as we drove a little more to park the car at the cottage. We instantly felt at home.
The cottage is just darling. Roses have been planted all around it and everything was to perfection. I've travelled to many places yet rarely do I connect with a place so quickly like I did here.
Inside the cottage was clean, beautiful and comfortable. Kim had baked us a delicious loaf of bread for our stay, and generously provided a carton of milk, larger than any hotel had given in our travels on this trip.
Creamed honey from her farm bees, and fresh butter were also left for us to enjoy, while the rest of the kitchen was well stocked with teas, coffee, cereal etc.
A quality washing machine and dryer are located in the kitchen.
Kim showed us how to use the fireplace, I love the beautiful aroma it gives in the mornings.
The beds were extremely comfortable, the sheets, made from a Tasmanian bamboo, were the softest sheets I've had in a long time, I'm now looking to buy them for my home.
Two ground level porches, one at the front, one at the back of the cottage provide lovely sheltered outdoor places to rest. It was cute to have the animals gather in the morning to say hello. Kim had left a bowl of chopped apples we could give them, and we got the opportunity to feed them all in the evening as well.
If you wake around 5 am or are on the farm around 4:30 pm onwards in summer, take a quick walk to the river at the back of the cottage and you'll likely see Percy the platypus more active. He is beautiful! It's so rare to see a platypus in the wild these days. As I waited to find him on our first evening, three pademelons hopped out from a bush on the other side of the river bank. (I purposely went to hotels that boasted of having plenty of native animal sightings earlier on the trip to see them yet they never showed. This farm had everything on display for us.)
The location is very good. Down the road is a great Turkish restaurant and general store in one, the food was lovely.
Close by is Tahune airwalk - well worth a visit.
Franklin and Huonville are a close drive to reach as well. In Franklin you must go to Frank's cider house, and if you are driving along the esplanade in Huonville, you might like to try a fun Huon jet boat experience on the river. If driving past that on the esplanade, you'll find the best cherries for sale you'll ever likely have in your life. (We went to the second cherry place we saw on that road, they were in a white tent).
Kim is building a cafe in town so we will be back to visit again, that is a promise!

Without a doubt the most perfectly divine place to stay in Tassie.
The hosts (Kim & Kym) are wonderfully welcoming and make you feel like theyโ€™ve been waiting just for you to arrive.
The amazing array of animals at the property is astounding; everything from miniature donkeys and ponies to sheep to a platypus in the rivulet.
The Cottage itself is fitted with everything you require for a stress free, self contained time away; including a coffee machine, heated bathroom floor, washer & clothes dryer, fully equipped kitchen, and the beds are so comfy youโ€™ll have to force yourself to get out.
Itโ€™s the perfect setting for relaxing with a local wine and book, a casual stroll around the property, and you can even help out with the animals at feed time.
I canโ€™t recommend another accommodation place in Tasmania that rivals Kymmik Cottage.
Do yourself a favour and book ASAP.

What an amazing couple Kym and Kim are. The cottage is a sanctuary - comfortable, clean and toasty warm with the added bonus of fresh bread and eggs. It is also a sanctuary for animals that have maybe not been loved in their previous home. We had two nights there and could have stayed longer.

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids 8 and 4 yrs) stayed at Kymmik Cottage in April 2021. It was the highlight of our 2 week holiday in Tassie and I cannot rate our experience and the accommodation highly enough.

Kym and Kim are the kindest and most welcoming hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay so comfortable and relaxing.

We could have happily spent the entire time at the cottage enjoying the idyllic setting of the property - the kids absolutely loved patting and feeding the friendly-farm animals that roam around and there was plenty of space for all of us to soak up and explore the beautiful outdoor setting.

There is a gorgeous creek bordered by a very pretty row of trees where the ducks swim and we all enjoyed trying to spot the local platypus family! There is also a wigwam built of sticks that the kids loved hiding out in. The whole place is just picturesque.

The cottage itself is beautifully appointed with every convenience you could want - amazing coffee machine, breakfast provisions (incl fresh farm eggs), great bbq, huge TV with Netflix and Stan, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Kim even baked us a fresh loaf of bread on arrival โค๏ธ and her handmade soap in the bathroom was another lovely touch.

We stayed warm and cozy with the gorgeous log fire which heated the whole cottage. The beds and pillows were super comfy and fitted with soft bamboo sheets, too!

Kymmik cottage was the perfect end to our magical holiday in Tassie. A fabulous base to explore The Huon Valley and towns like Franklin and Cygnet. We canโ€™t wait to return to stay again and explore more of south Tasmania.

Thank you so much Kim and Kym, the Cottage is a credit to you both.
