Kermandie Hotel - Port Huon, Tasmania

I recently stayed at the Kermandie Hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, ideal for unwinding in the Huon Valley.
The food was generally very nice, although Steak Night was a miss — the steak was about as tough as they come. Fortunately, other meals were much better and well-prepared.
The staff were excellent — warm, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which made the stay more enjoyable.
I stayed in a small single room, which was clean and comfortable, but definitely on the snug side — fine for a short stay if you're not expecting too much space.
The continental breakfast is basic, but included in the stay — it is what it is.
Overall, it’s a charming place with lovely staff, a great atmosphere, and good food (just skip Steak Night). Worth considering if you're exploring the area.

A really lovely overnight stay. A great room (up one flight of stairs) with the best shower and comfy bed. The evening meal was nice and good value and the included continental breakfast was more than expected and was a great start to the day. All of the staff were genuinely very friendly. When we return to Tassie we will certainly return to the Kermandie.

We based ourselves in this hotel for 4 nights so we could go to the music festival at Cygnet. The glowing reviews certainly influenced my hotel choice but I had trouble reconciling these with our experience until I realised most reviews were about the breakfast, which was certainly spectacular, and the kitchen staff, who were cheery and helpful. It was also quiet - both because our room was at the back of the hotel, and the road on which the hotel sits is naturally sparsely trafficked. The rest of the place was a disappointment. The view from the guest lounge looked over the bay as promised, but only a couple of rooms do this (and you pay extra - no probs, we chose not to). ||The towel rail fell off the wall as soon as I touched it when we walked in, and it took two goes over two days to get someone to fix it. While I understand that older hotels will have some maintenance issues, we happened to be there on three hot days and hence three hot nights, and quickly realised that not only was there no aircon (there was a heater) but we couldn't open our window because there was no insect screen - and we didn't want to be bitten overnight by who knows what. The only incoming source of fresh air was the toilet window, 5-6m from our bed and around a U-corner. So we endured three hot and stuffy nights (also, our window faced west so it heated up nicely in the afternoon). During our stay I noted that another guest had dealt with this by leaving the door open and they had acquired a fan from somewhere which they had blowing on them all night - alright in theory but the staff habitually propped open the two fire escape doors at the back of the hotel so the security was questionable as well (but, probably low risk given the location).||Given we were there for 4 nights, I would also have expected some sort of room service - but when I went down to the bottle shop (which doubles as reception) and said I room hadn't been service, the response was "and...?" and an admittance that they don't do that. They were happy to offer fresh towels but we had to ask for them. I think this place is fine for a single night, but if you want some service other than at breakfast time, I'd choose another hotel. At an average of $160 per night, I couldn't see the value.

Absolutely amazing spot. Got a river view room last time - spectacular! Hotel room those tine - also fantastic

Both rooms are spacious and very well appointed (hotel room has access to a very, very good lounge/kitchenette, rover virw was self contained).

Food at the pub is excellent (try the squid, washed down with a local cider). Or the steak. Or the roast veg medley. Or the Pina Colada dessert (pictured).

The breakfast buffet is great, lots of choice. Staff are also lovely, no matter how busy they are, the weather or time of day.

This place is a gem! You won’t be disappointed if you indulge in a visit.|We started our day with a two hour cruise on the Huon River aboard the beautifully restored and maintained wooden ferry Radar. Radar’s Captain is well informed on the history of the area and shared his knowledge with us along the way.|The ferry cruise was included in our nightly tariff - what a bargain! This bargain is available on the last Saturday of the month.|We shared a twin share room in the Lodge accommodation - scrupulously clean, well equipped, comfortable beds, heater and a picturesque view over the Marina.|We enjoyed a superb dinner in the restaurant after enjoying pre dinner drinks in the welcoming Huon Lounge.|Dinner was a culinary delight and will be long remembered.|Our great experience was complimented by the very efficient and super friendly staff ( every one of them).|Prior to our departure we enjoyed a very generous and complimentary Continental Breakfast in Club Huon.|A fabulous stay and we look forward to a return visit.

We stayed here for 8 days while in between rental properties. It was the best value in southern Tasmania. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A nice old hotel but all renovated. A nice peaceful place to stay to explore the Huon Valley. The bar has nightly specials that are really good value.

Had a Lovely stay at Kermandie. Food was great and rooms clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable and had a peaceful night rest. Continental breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend to stay at Kermandie
