We stumbled across Cambridge house while perusing Huon Valley accommodation and are so glad we did. This is like nothing we’ve ever experienced. The passion that Kaz displays for his food is second to none. Thana, his wife, is also passionate about providing guests with a unique and special experience and is simply delightful. Together they provide a foodie haven that leaves you enriched and invigorated. I believe that many guests are returning visitors and that is no surprise. There is nowhere like this and needs to be experienced to be believed.

It is an accommodation with warmth and depth. In addition to being clean and tidy, the owners, Thana and Kaz also take great care to tailor the most perfect accommodation for each guest.

I went on vacation to celebrate my wife's birthday. My wife was very satisfied with the arrangement and it will definitely be an unforgettable birthday for her.

We were worried that bringing our three-year-old daughter would be a big hassle, but the owner was understanding and arranged different activities to make our daughter happy staying with us.

The Japanese cuisine in the restaurant is the best we have ever had in Tasmania. The ingredients are fresh, and many of the sauces and ingredients are homemade by the owner. The cooking techniques are top-notch and comparable to the standards of high-end restaurants in Japan.

They went above and beyond what we could have imagined, so definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to guest staying at Geeveston.

We believe we will stay here again in the near future.

Where to start, wow what a hidden treasure in Geeveston. Beautiful place to stay amazing house with gorgeous rooms. Big rooms with amazing decor and furniture. Love that the rooms have ensuites. The accommodation is owned by the loveliest family Thana and Kaz you will ever meet. The second you walk into the house you have the warmest most genuine welcome. Highly recommend you have dinner in the lovely dining room that has an open fire crackling away. Don't worry if you have children they have fire guards. The food is outstanding cooked by Chef Kaz and yes he is a Chef. Highly recommend you try The Degustation Japanese meal. Fantastic Quality, Mouthwatering food. He does offer Australian food if you prefer. Have to admit we loved the Japanese meal so didn't try the Australian but 100% it will be so good. You will be really happy with the delicious breakfast in the morning after a really comfortable nights sleep. Then you can walk in the garden and go down to the stream and watch the Platypuses swim. We walked away with a really warm happy feeling after staying at this gem of a place. It is a must to return again and again.

We travelled as a family group of 7 with our grown up kids and their partners and stayed 2 nights in this great spot. New owners Kaz and Thana are superb hosts. We opted for the degustation Japanese meal one evening and it was amazing -showcasing quality fresh local produce and the incredible skills of chef Kaz- even accommodating our 1 vegan with separate, equally impressive dishes. So many beautifully presented courses that kept coming including lots of different seafood, wagyu beef, fresh vegetables served with local wines and saki. ||Breakfasts were equally impressive with fresh cold pressed juices and boxes of delicious morsels and fluffy pancakes. Rooms have been recently upgraded with lots of attention to tiny details. Comfortable beds with electric blankets and heaters if needed. We feel very lucky to have reunited with family from different states in such a special place over Christmas. Thank you again Thana and Kaz and Sora!

This destination is a foodie heaven. We chose it because we love Japanese food and wanted to experience Kaz’s Japanese food with a Tasmanian twist. However Thana’s welcome and level of service were exceptional too. She explained how everything worked, our welcome gift boxes with beautiful pampering products and when to see the resident platypuses. She even told us how to capture the aurora australis from outside their property and showed us photos she had taken!
The property has been restored beautifully with lots of Victorian period fittings. Cosy pelts added touches of comfort and luxury.
Thana took great pains to ensure we saw the platypus in the river at the bottom of the garden by keeping an eye out for the ripples these marsupials make. She had the timings down to a fine art. She alerted us to their presence while we were having our evening meal so we took a quick break between courses to enjoy a platypus moment - a young male playing. Got some great video footage and photos.
The main focus of our stay here, however, was to enjoy the food prepared by Kaz, our personal Michelin star chef for 2 nights. We opted for the 14 course degustation menu Omakase style on the first night and the simpler 3 course set menu on the second. Both were of exceptional quality using seasonal and locally produced ingredients. We sampled some sake as well as a great Chardonnay and a variety of teas with different courses. We were able to see Kaz cook some of the courses over a wood fire such as eel, sea trout and chicken. We love your hats Kaz!

An integral part of the eating experience was the accompanying explanation of how the food was prepared, its sourcing, how it affected our bodies and mood and the type of cuisine it represented. Thana played a full part in this. Thank you too to the other lovely lady, whose name I cannot spell, who helped serve us on both evenings.
We also enjoyed the piano accompaniment to some of our courses on the first night given by Kaz’s mother - a very accomplished pianist. All our meals were accompanied by an eclectic mix of music mostly from the 1950’s and ‘60’s with a Japanese twist.
Let us not forget our 2 breakfasts. Both were superb and very different. One akin to a very upmarket bento box the other with more European/Tazzie ingredients but with a Japanese twist.
We so enjoyed the whole experience and got to meet Kaz and Thana’s delightful daughter, Sora too.
Cambridge House B&B is an experience not to be missed if you love trying new food. It is also a good spot from which to explore the remote Hartz mountains and surrounding area. We won’t forget our stay in Cambridge House for a long time and hope we can visit again sometime in the future. Thank you Kaz and Thana.

Well what can I day the minute we pulled up we knew we had chosen the right place. What a beautiful house. We had a really genuine and warming welcome. We sat in the lovely lounge and received a welcome drink. Our room was wonderful so beautifully laid out. We were visiting family so we didn't have dinner but were told by guests over breakfast it was spectacular. Our bed was super comfortable and the bathroom lovely.|Well Our breakfast was beyond amazing we would happily have sat there all day. So fresh and the taste of all the different dishes wow so good. It is Japenese cuisine which h we love but they will do Austrailian if requested. You will never find better hosts then these. We are going back soon so we can have the 15 course Degustation Dinner. All I can say is everything was perfect the Hosts were so lovely and really looked after us. A huge thank to to them

Very nice B&B in probably the most historically significant house in Geeveston. Karen was a wonderful host and her breakfast was truly delicious, plentiful and beautifully served. ||||The property is surrounded by lovely lawns and is beside a stream which is home to several platypus. It's fun trying to spot these elusive little creatures. The house has been well maintained, pretty much as it was in the 1800's but with all the thoughtful additions to make for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in today's world. Even though our preference is for super contemporary style, we really could appreciate the charm of this B&B and how well is is cared for.

We stayed at Cambridge House for our honeymoon and it was the highlight of our trip! The hosts are wonderfully kind and welcoming, they have put so much thought into ensuring you get the most out of your stay. Starting with afternoon tea by the river to watch the platypus play, and a beautiful lounge room to relax in before dinner.
The new owner, Kaz, is a Chef and worked in fine dining before moving to Geeveston and provides amazing Japanese style breakfasts. We included the 15 course degustation dinner in our stay and it was indescribable. Each course show cases locally sourced ingredients and two of them were cooked in front of us!
We’d highly recommend staying here if you have the opportunity, we’ll certainly be back!
