The Convent in Franklin Tas is brilliant.

For a quite reasonable price we had a semi-detached cottage with bedroom, lounge, dining area and bathroom - all well-equipped and a short walk from town.

Facilities included BBQ, fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, washing machine with dryer, wifi, and a pantry stacked with all kinds of handy things for self-catering.

Wow the Abbey on Main is an absolute gem. The history of the building is explained to you on arrival by Gavin who is the perfect host. Gavin provided us with provisions that we never expected, the property is immaculate in all ways. An ideal relaxing and wonderful stay, the best we have experienced in all our travels in Tasmania.

We spent Easter long weekend at Abbey on Main, Franklin. Absolutely beautiful old home with history and a perfect location within driving distance to everything southern Tasmania has to offer (although we did do a day trip to Central Plateau/Great Lake as well!)
So nice coming home after a day sight-seeing to a wood fire, comfortable cosy beds, warm bath and incredible touches from our Host like easter eggs, wine & fresh fruit.
Excellent and warm communication from Gavin, and caretaker Ingrid.

Highly recommend, but minimum 4 days to appreciate all this beautiful home and area has to offer!

Gavin was the perfect host.
The premises were spotlessly clean.
The accommodation was perfect for our short stay with easy access to nearby sights and attractions.
We were able to walk to local eateries that were recommended by our host, so no need to drive.
I would thoroughly recommend Abbey on Main as excellent accommodation for anyone holidaying in the Huon Valley area.

This is an excellent property, if you wish to enjoy the rustic and luxurious experience with excellent water front views then Abbey On Main at Franklin is a perfect place.
Gavin is an exceptional host, he was very flexible with the check in and explained us about the property in detail.
He was very kind and had kept a milk bottle, bread and butter (all complimentary).
We had turned on the wood heater in the evening and enjoyed Netflix in the lounge and it was a very laid back and relaxing holiday for us.
Couldn’t wait to get back again. 5 ⭐️

Abbey on Main is the perfect spot to explore the Huon Valley. The Abbey is beautifully decorated with a balanced mixture of historic furniture and modern technical fittings and electronic devices. Everything is very tasteful, clean and neat. We loved it very much and it was definitely the best accommodation we stayed at during our three-week journey through Tasmania. Gavin is the perfect host. Absolutely friendly, helpful and always eager to make his guestsˋ stay even more comfortable. He really thought of everything, including the readily prepared fireplace when we arrived, wine, chocolates and fresh bread. The tables where even decorated with fresh flowers. The WiFi was really reliable and fast. There is a huge selection of books, Blu-rays etc.. We highly recommend this place to everyone.

Amazing property in a wonderful location. The best I've stayed at in Tasmania and will keep coming back to Abbey on Main now. The place was immaculate and beyond perfect, and so spacious. The host Gavin was very knowledgeable and provided wonderful advice around where to go and what to do. Can't wait to go back soon.
