We loved our stay at Zanzoo. Cairns is a great place for a holiday - lots of options for day trips, great scenery, heaps of wildlife, and a great place to read a book or go out for dinner. Zanzoo was a perfect base, away from the hustle and bustle of down-town Cairns, yet within an easy drive of everything. ||||We started each day with a healthy breakfast and chat with Rosie. It was easy to establish a rapport with other guests and chat about what we planned to do that day. Rosie could not have done more to make our trip to Cairns a wonderful, relaxing time - her local knowledge was invaluable, and her friendly way a highlight of the trip. The house was tidy and the grounds were well maintained.||||It was a great place to come home to after a day out - the lights were left on in a welcoming gesture, the air-conditioners a pleasant relief from the heat. I spent a couple of days around the property - reading, playing tennis and swimming which was a nice way to relax. There was a large kitchen where you could cook your own meal or there are great restaurants nearby or in Cairns.

Located about 20 minutes out of Cairns, but close to shops and attractions, nestled at the base of rainforest clad mountains with a river at its side, zanzoo retreat a piece of your own paradise. Originally a bed and breakfast it is now a six bedroom Queenslander set in around 5 acres of gardens including a tennis court and pool.||We stayed in July with two other families, six adults and six kids, easily fit and you each have your own space in this huge house. The three bedrooms on the top floor are generous and have their own en suites, perfect for parents as the top floor also has a kitchenette, large lounge and veranda, perfect for evening drinks after the kids were put to bed.||Downstairs, the three bedrooms were perfect for the kids, no en suite but access to generous male and female shared bathrooms. A large well appointed kitchen meant we could easily self cater for our large group.||You are basically left to yourself, although everything was thought about by the owners including all the kitchen utensils you will need to prepare the evening meal as well as a good range of basic condiments, which meant you did not have to rush to the shops and buy every last thing (and we have stayed at many house rentals before, always only very basic supplies are available so this was very much appreciated). The kids loved to explore the garden or sit by the pool and although they loved the attractions around Cairns most days they would prefer just to stay at Zanzoo!||There are plenty of surprise places to sit and read a book or have a coffee, we stayed 10 days and I had breakfast in a different location each time. It was very relaxing as the kids were so busy the parents could really get some down time.||I really cant think of any negatives, I guess if you were really harsh, maybe the dΓ©cor is a little dated, but this suited the style of the house and possibly in the hot season it may be a little uncomfortable as it is set up to rely on the evening breezes to cool the place down. It is a house best enjoyed by at least 8-12 people I reckon as you may get a bit lost if there was only a few of you!||This is certainly one of the nicest places I have ever stayed and we hope to return in the future with our friends. We found it great value for money especially as we shared the cost amongst three families. Bravo Zanzoo, don't change a thing! Enjoy.

The situation of Zanzoo is delightful,, but you do need a car. It was lovely to stay in such a quiet spot away from the th hustle and bustle of Cairns. We were lucky to have the whole house to ourselves, and Rosie was an excellent hostess, sorting out trips to the Barrier Reef, and telling us of local places to see, and places to eat . It was a relaxing stay here, in our air conditioned bedroom ,a lovely escape from the steamy heat of Cairns.

We booked Zanzoo for a big family get together for July 2021 and then... lockdown. We were devastated, but the service we received from Lizzie and the team was outstanding and they helped out with our refund via Airbnb. We will definitely be booking again as soon as we can escape from NSW. So very disappointed - but would recommend based solely on friendly nature of the staff and their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure happy clients. Can't wait to visit in person.

Though I'm listing the timing of this review as recent (TA doesn't allow me to go back far enough, so please ignore the date attached to the review), my remarks are based on a previous trip Down Under. It's been awhile since my family and I stayed at Zanzoo, but the pleasant memories are still quite strong. After traveling around the Boomerang Coast, we were in need of some down time, and Zanzoo was just what the doctor ordered. The property was quiet during the day, but the mornings were a symphony of sounds with birds singing in a way that we city-dwellers had never heard. Marc and Rosie were wonderful hosts. They also were a wealth of knowledge with regard to the various sightseeing and experiential opportunities in and around Cairns. Marc seemed to know all the tour operators and guided us to the best, making our stay even more memorable. Because we're from the States, observing the night sky was truly confusing. Marc took the time to show us the pertinent constellations and the all-important Southern Cross so that we could orient ourselves. We enjoyed our stay so much that I've stayed in touch with Marc over the years. So if you're looking for a place to relax, then Zanzoo is worth considering.

We stayed at the Zanzoo Retreat between 13th - 16th February 2010. The B&B is located on the outskirts of town but is within a short drive of a pub which serves reasonable meals. The local pizza places will deliver if you do not want to venture out. The Retreat is huge, soley occupied by guests as the owners live in an adjacent property. There is a residents' lounge and dining room, breakfasts are taken on the verandah. The property is managed by Rosie who prepares delicious breakfasts. Rosie is also a great source of information about day trips in and around Cairns.

Set on beautiful grounds next to a river, this fabulous converted Queenslander offers a perfect blend of activity (tennis, swimming, walking) and relaxation. Catering perfectly for our large extended family group spanning generations, the property is spacious enough to allow everyone to come together while affording private corners when required. There is plenty to do locally and easy access to supermarkets for supply runs. Crystal Cascades, a mere 3k or so away, where we swam under a waterfall, was a personal highlight, as were the riverside walks alongside excellent paths.

A lovely place to stay. Rosie (who runs the place) is such a wonderful lady and really made our stay. It is a very personal and extremely friendly place. The house is beautiful as are the grounds. Superb breakfast served on a relaxing balcony with other guests. When we arrived we got a choice of rooms (as the house was not full) which was really useful as we have a baby so we perhaps have different needs to other guests!||||Rosie was brillant with our daugher and went out of her way to make her stay comfortable. Redlynch is a great place to be because it is not on the tourist route, you can see how real Aussies live. ||||My only negative comments are that although the pool is meant to be heated, it was too cold for my baby and that there is a mango tree which hangs above the house and everytime a mango fell on the roof it woke us all up! Nice and quirky during the day but no fun at night when you are trying to sleep....it makes such a noise! ||||Other than these tiny points I cant recommend this place more highly.||||Thank you Rosie for a very memorable stay
