We had a pleasant stay at this hotel!
【Good points】
• Affordable price
• Convenient location
• Friendly staff
• Large and comfortable shower room
• Kitchen available for use
• Nice outdoor balcony

【Areas for improvement】
• Only one key is provided, even for two guests.
• The toilet cleanliness could be improved.
While it is cleaned in the morning, there were some hygiene issues at night.
• Housekeeping forgot to provide two bath towels, and the check-in staff didn't mention this service.

Overall, it was a nice stay, and we appreciate the hospitality.

Avoid this place.
I stayed for 2 weeks in the 'deluxe' 4-bed dorm.
The AC is operated with a timed button and barely blows any cold air. So the room never really cools down. The connected bathroom has a window that you cannot close so it is always hot in there. After toilet, brushing teeth or shower you sweat again instantly.

The deluxe rooms are in a completely different building with a outside kitchen. Here the power is so weak you cannot bring water to boil. One time the power just cut off in the middle of my cooking and i had to leave to work, when asking reception, the guy just said “It is what it is” so i had to throw my dinner away and since the kitchen closes at 10pm (don't understand why since they play loud music anyways) i didn't have dinner that night and they didn't care. They also didn't even bother putting any fan in the kitchen, found myself almost dripping sweat in my bowl during breakfast. The other kitchen barely has any pots and pans to use. Only 2 fires and 1 doesn't even work.
If you just want to sleep for 1-2 nights, ok, but if u want to cook and live here longer, i don't recommend it.

Kitchen was awful, no soap or dishcloths and very bad knives and stoves. Common area inside was small but okay and there was limited table seating outside. Our room was basic but did the job, however i had a nail sticking out of the wall right next to my bed that could’ve caused me serious injury if i didn’t see it. Only good thing was the location and comfy beds.

I stayed 1 month at The Jack, and it was amazing! Great location, clean facilities, and a super friendly staff. The vibe is unmatched, and I met incredible people. Perfect start to my Australian journey!

Stopped in for a drink and bite to eat. Ordered loaded fries which were $18. They came out burnt on the top and soggy underneath. How hard is it to cook crispy fries and top it with stuff. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

I didn't stay here but the pub is around the corner from my hotel. Food is reasonably priced and delicious. T-bone specoal.on tuesdays is a bargain. Staff are very friendly and food is quick. Different seating areas for different tastes. Staff need to learn about wine (I had to explain to a bartender that she wouldn't find Shiraz in the bar fridge and that Cabernet Sauvignon is a type of wine).

100% recommend to stay here whilst in Cairns, the price is unbeatable and the aircon cool. They also have the nicest staff in Cairns! They are super accomodating and helpful. Big thank you to Harriet, Nikki and Teegan at the front desk for making my stay 10x better 🙂

Came for lunch with my parents. 2 x T-bone steaks ordered and 2 crumbed beef schnitzels. The t-bone was thin as paper (I doubt it’s 300g as stated), definitely not worth $30+ and the cumb steaks were cooked with old dirty oil (previous hospitality worker here, I know it when I see it). The chips and salad were also miserable (chips cold and stale, salad old and soggy). The supervisor on shift also very rude, and clearly he didnt care at all. And when I told him his customer service sucked he laughed and said he had been sick all week (who wants to hear that). I hope the owners see this, because it was the worst experience at a pub I have ever been to. Only positive was the great service at the bar, she was fantastic. Don’t recommend.
