Avoid using this hotel at all costs and beware as they double dip i.e. take double payment without prior authorisation on the pretext of saying that they never received payment when the booking was made. RUBBISH!!!

They are very dismissive, non-caring and impertinent in their attitude and definitely not customer facing.

Finally, they had to refund my money because the booking agent proved to them that they had been paid at the onset– this would amount to attempting fraud. They then refunded the amount less 10.5$ stating currency exchange as the reason. This is nonsense and who knows how many have been cheated this way!!!

Facilities are mediocre and limited. Rooms not serviced on Sundays. Their continental breakfast consisted of cereals, tea/coffee, pancakes, and tetra pack juice – NO Fruits.

The bathroom was basically a wet room. After a shower the whole place was soaking wet.

Queens Court Motel was a very mediocre place to stay. AVOID this place by all means for the following reasons:1) They double dip. By this I mean my stay was all paid for by my booking agent, as confirmed on entry and the lady at reception took my card details, she said “only for incidentals”. No mention of other payment or them not receiving the booking payment was stated but on the day of departure they took full payment without my authorisation for the 4 days even though it was already paid for. When I went to reception to challenge this girl at reception said they had not received any payment. RUBBISH!!! I asked to double check which she said she will and after a few seconds regurgitated that they had not received any payment. I showed her confirmation from Trip.com but she did not accept this. SO I asked for receipt of the double payment taken today for my record and left as I gained the opinion that it was pointless dealing with her anymore. She stated that if Trip.com had actually paid them the hotel would process a refund.Subsequently I spent a great deal of time of the next couple of days dealing with Trip.com to get my money back. Trip.com finally confirmed that Queens Court Motel had been paid and they would refund me the amount they took from me. After a day or so I found the hotel refund me but less 10.5 $ so I approached Trip.com. Again after a lengthy discussion I was told that the hotel said the refunded amount was less due to exchange rate which is pure nonsense as I could clearly see the refunded amount in local currency on my card transaction. SO I kept of challenging Trip.com who eventually compensated me for my loss but I made it clear to them that what this hotel did is tantamount to attempting fraud – hence BEWARE and stay clear of this place.2) Some of the staff at reception are very dismissive, non-caring and impertinent in their attitude and definitely not customer facing.3) Breakfast was delayed by over 30 minutes one morning, resulting in some people running out of time to make their flight or tour, but no apologies were made. Their continental breakfast consisted of cereals, tea/coffee, pancakes, and tetra pack juice – NO Fruits.4) The facilities in the shared area on the ground floor were sparse and in adequate. Rooms were not serviced on Sunday.5) The bathroom was basically a wet room. After a shower the whole place was soaking wet.

What a disappointment at the end of our trip, one single dog hair on an old doona cover and they charge you $100 to put it in the washing machine. Of course there is dog hair in the room it’s a dog room, over all the room was good, service was good. We mopped, dusted and stripped the bed and cleaned the room up.. I should have left it, and not bothered, it was good until the end. What they should do is put the $100 in all the tariffs .

Terrible Experience - Unprofessional and Dishonest

I stayed at this hotel expecting a comfortable, pet-friendly experience, but it turned out to be the opposite. From the moment I checked in, I was asked to pay a $100 bond, which wasn’t mentioned beforehand and seemed suspicious. I wouldn’t have minded, except the lack of transparency and poor customer service ruined my stay.

During my two-day stay, they had scheduled a management service in my room for a fire alarm check, yet never informed me at check-in. On my first morning at 10 a.m., someone was knocking on my door to enter and conduct this service. I went to the front desk to complain, as I was paying for a peaceful stay—not to have someone enter my room for maintenance work without any prior notice.

To make things worse, they decided to keep my bond because they found a single dog hair on the doona. This charge is absurd and feels like they’re just looking for reasons to keep guests’ money. Their reasoning also raises questions about their cleanliness—if they’re keeping my money for dog hair, are they even washing these doonas between guests? If I’d known, I would have requested a clean one at check-in to avoid dealing with other guests’ pet hair!

On top of this, the front desk staff were rude and dismissive when I tried to address these issues. Instead of helping, they acted like I was the problem and even asked me to leave simply because I voiced my complaints.

Overall, this place is poorly managed, unclean, and hostile to guests who speak up. Save your money and go somewhere that actually respects and values its customers.

Easy access to the coast and shops and eateries. Very comfortable bed, good bathroom and plenty of room for luggage etc. Didn't have a chance to try the pool which looked very enticing. Staff were all great and very helpful, especially Jeanette.

What sort of accommodation establishment has shared toilet and shower facilities? You need to change your name to backpackers! The room was a dive, it had hospital odour, like someone had just died in the room. Why have a bar fridge and not have it stocked Such a waste of my money. The bed felt like bricks, didn’t sleep-worse experience ever. I only stayed there because The Abbott Hotel didn’t have any vacancies. Don’t waste your money people-lots of decent accommodation options in Cairns.
