A lovely place. Only two cabins on a large and forested property. Cabins beautifully made and appointed. Friendly and helpful hosts. Our second visit; walking through the rainforest; birding and swimming. We have been there in the dry before, and wanted to see what the rainforest and bush was like in the wet. We got that, with some spectacular thunderstorms. Cabin had excellent cooking facilities but we enjoyed both the local pubs too.

We love the absolute privacy, being surrounded by the peaceful nature and abundant wildlife, having meals on the terrace with stunning mountainous landscape, friendly hosts. Wendy kept providing all the information we needed for our trip, and Glenn shared with us the best birding spot where we found 3 pairs of buff-breasted paradise kingfishers.

Sweetwater Lodge has two 5-star well-separated "cabins" 200mtrs apart and a gypsy caravan (pictured first). There is no other accomodation within 2kms, so this is an isolated couples retreat. We went in 2022 and were desperate to return to this Daintree paradise with amazing birdlife and an adjacent private 500+ acre rainforest. There is a small river running through the property and a gorgeous BBQ area alongside the river (see pics). Sweetwater "cabins" were upgraded in 2023 with aircon and excellent internet, so now is truly 5-star. Each cabin is totally private with excellent views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Each is equipped with a superb shower and spa bath, large loungeroom with a huge bed and gorgeous view, and an excellent outdoor patio with full cooking facilities and Weber BBQ. 5-star linen and pillows as expected. We will be back in 2024- this really is a paradise retreat for couples seeking rest and tranquility. The nearby Julatten pub was fully renovated in June 2023 and is totally superb.

We stayed 3 nights and loved it all. As a birdo, the surrounding forest was amazingly active and full of exotic birdlife. Beautifully appointed lodge with high-quality amentities and toiletries, with a great spa bath and very comfy king bed with superb views across your private half-acre garden. There is a gorgeous private river with well-appointed BBQ gazebo next to clear freshwater pools, plus private forest walks. Being high on the escarpment behind the Daintree range, the evenings fortunately cool down rapidly, since the lodge has fans but no a/c for cooling. The only downside is no internet and free-to-air TV is limited- use DVDs instead on the large screen TV. Relax and enjoy- we did and would come back. Wendy is a great and generous host.

The perfect place to relax and explore.
Driving into the property we immediately felt it was going to be a special place continue our adventure to explore a little of the surrounding area. The cabin itself was a pleasure to live out of for the five nights we had booked with all the amenities one could possibly want. We both loved the semi outdoor shower which was very private followed by warming up in front of the wood fire of course.
The quality of the construction and fit out of the cabin is extremely well done with the kitchen on the outside deck having amazing views of the mountains and forest made it almost an event every time we had a meal or just sat and watched the birdlife around us.
With the abundance of birdlife and a number of great walking tracks on the property we were kept busy every day exploring and managing to get photos of a number of the birds around the property, even with overnight rain and some showers during the day. We also had plenty of places to just sit and enjoy the natural beauty around us.
Definitely be returning again when we can.

If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of your daily lives this is just the spot Quiet, peaceful and restful . The only noise was the birds singing |The cottage was spacious, clean , and comfortable. Huge shower area | Spa bath. Well Stocked self catering kitchen |Ample parking room |Plenty of waterholes to cool off in the creek that runs all year round.I enjoyed all the walks around the property |The hosts are helpful and responsive but not invasive. Highly recommend

What a wonderful place this is and so pleased we stayed here rather than in Port Douglas. So tranquil and private. Comfortable bed, best shower ever and a kitchen that made cooking preferable to going out. Birds, trees,walks and what lovely hosts Glen and Wendy are… anyone that plants so many trees for the benefit of wildlife have to be fabulous. Quite the best stay we have had the fortune of experiencing.

Beautiful Property to stay at when exploring the Port Douglas area. We stayed for 6 nights in one of the Lodges. Saw the resident Platypus a couple of times and explored the Rainforest and Waterholes on the property. We also explored the Daintree and Port Douglas area from here. Wendy and Glenn are excellent hosts, always just a txt message away, if needed, and very knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended.
