Good location. No under or over service. Decent sea view rooms, however could be improved with an addition of a full length mirror in the wardrobe.

I recently stayed at Riley for my birthday weekend away. The cute dessert with happy birthday written on it when I first entered my room was a wonderful start to an incredible few days at this hotel.

I stayed in the Panoramic Sea view room which is located in the tower. The room was immaculate. All modern features with an incredible view of the sea with floor to ceiling glass windows. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean, modern and stylish. There was a massive tv as well (although I didn’t get time to use it) with a variety of choices of free movies. There were different settings for the lighting in the room and an iPad which provided useful information about the hotel. Air-conditioning did not struggle and kept the room comfortable the whole time.

My only recommendation is it would be cool if you could control the tv, lighting and curtains via the tablet. It also seemed that some of the light settings in my room didn’t work properly, despite trying to change the settings on all 3 control pads.

The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and very helpful. It was refreshing to have such great service right across the board from the front desk, valet, restaurants and cleaners. Everyone had a smile on their face and happy to say hi and have a chat.

Buffet breakfast at Paper Crane each morning was delicious with a wide selection of food. They also catered for lactose and gluten intolerances. I also had dinner at Paper Crane which was just as nice. The mood lighting, and live music from Chris Lloyds added to the romantic feel of this restaurant in the evenings (Riley, please make sure you get Chris back regularly! His voice is incredible!!)

Rocco, the rooftop bar in the tower was a fun place to also grab dinner and drinks. The food there was also delicious. The live music added to the elegant atmosphere.

I got a massage and facial at Eleme Spa. Sam was so professional and friendly. She did an amazing job and the whole experience was very luxurious and relaxing.

Overall, I can’t recommend Riley highly enough for anyone thinking of visiting Cairns. It gives all the other ‘big-name’ hotels in the area a run for their money.
