Green Island Resort - Green Island, Queensland

I need to start this review by saying that if you are considering visiting anywhere on the Great Barrier Reef, you need to visit Green Island.

We visited the island previously on a day trip and really enjoyed ourselves so on this trip we decided to stay on the island.

The accommodation is stunning, immaculately clean, and everything you could ask for but in one of the most amazing locations on the planet. You are given wet suits and snorkelling equipment on arrival and advised of various activities scheduled on the island.

We spent as much time as we possibly could in the water and were blown away by the amount of marine life on show. Throughout the day, we swam across pristine reef with fish of every colour and variety you could imagine, but once the day visitors left, that's when things really came to life.

Late afternoon after lunch we got back into the water and were instantly greeted by about a dozen sea turtles who were completely unfazed by our presence and were content with us watching them and a few even chose to swim alongside us. A truly life changing experience. We were also very lucky to see a reef shark and stingray to top things off.

The staff were excellent throughout and extra helpful when my partner, unfortunately after not paying attention and too busy watching the reef shark, swam face first into a jellyfish. In the evening, we got the pleasure of watching the flying foxes take to the skies and enjoyed sunset in this stunning setting.

The next day was spent with more snorkelling, fish, and turtles, which you never get tired of seeing.

I can not recommend visiting Green Island enough. It is one of the most amazing places on earth and is a must on any bucket list. We will definitely be back, and this time will make sure we stay for longer.

A nice island to spend a couple nights on to enjoy all that it has to offer!
We stayed for two nights. We arrived midday on the first day with the Green island cruise that carried both guests staying in-house and a day goer so very busy. When we got to the island our room wasn't ready so we had lunch at the Emeralds restaurant, great food and cocktails! We went for a walk around the island for the afternoon and visited the Marine land to see some crocodile and turtle feeding. The aquarium inside was very pretty as well.
The beach was much quieter after the last cruise left the island so we chilled out there in the water and on the beach. We really enjoyed the sunset drinks before our dinner as well.
We joined the glass bottom boat tour and went out snorkeling in the morning and afternoon on the second day. It's great to be able to relax by the pool in the accommodation area between the beach swim.
The room is very spacious and has daily housekeeping services!
Overall it was a fantastic experience staying in Green island.

Love the time on island once again. We will most likely go back again,but I wish they would fix one thing the restaurant namely Emeralds(more on that later).|Resort wise,can’t fault. Rooms impeccably clean and kept to a high standard. Island and national park are a delight. Loved the birds and marine life. Sharks,bright coloured fish,turtles and rays. Best part is when the days guests leave and you have the tranquility on island. Agree with another reviewer earlier,sunset drinks could be and feel a bit more special for island and resort guests. Staff in every facility were fabulous.|Weakest link namely the restaurant Emeralds. Sorry guys but it’s no where near good enough quality of food for this resort. Could be way better. Chefs(plural) are very ordinary with what’s delivered to resort guests. Have also given this feedback to Luxury Escapes. Fix the kitchen and food and I would have given you five star review. Really disappointing when you consider the quality of food and restaurants that are available at Cairns itself.

Didn't stay over as the outside is smelly as from BATS & rubbish always around the place when you enter from the jetty.

The snorkelling is always wonderful ❤️

Food so over priced, we take our own to the beach AND TAKE HOME OUR RUBBISH. Take a beach umbrella & blanket & you will have e a beautiful relaxing family day or peaceful couples day.

Day trip only thank goodness. Everywhere was packed. Sub par food options and overpriced. Not enough seating at the cafe or the pool. Staff rude probably because so rushed due to overcrowding, the island is not set up to take the boat loads of people brought in. Thank goodness we were only stuck there for a few hours must be devastating for people who book to stay there.

Simone is amazing and makes your stay enjoyable, friendly and like you are at home. The island is breathtakingly beautiful, relaxing, spectacular and words cannot describe the experience. A definite must visit.

I feel genuinely sorry for people who book to stay here. The place absolutely stinks of poo (it’s literally covered in bird poo). The snorkelling is good, and well worth a half day ferry ride from Cairns to enjoy the snorkelling - but other than that, there’s nothing there. The resort is a run down dump; the food offerings on the island are sub par fast food crap. Avoid.

Spent my 50th there with my eldest daughter. We had a lovely time. Room was beautiful, and we shared an amazing seafood platter for dinner that was all fresh and no fried garbage.
Prices for food/drinks not outrageous.
