The hotel itself is lovely, in a great location with very helpful staff. Our room key card though stopped working within 2hours of arriving. The pool would have been stunning place to relax had it not been for the full blown construction site directly below. The noise was absurdly loud, cranes constantly moving and works ongoing. Would have been great to know this prior to booking as would have booked elsewhere for sure. Was a disappointing factor of a 5* hotel and definitely below expectations.

I do not recommend Sofitel.

We checked in yesterday for a business trip and, unfortunately, it was a terrible experience overall. The first room we were given was uncomfortably hot, and despite setting the air conditioning to the lowest temperature with the fan on maximum speed, it did not cool the room. To make matters worse, the room was positioned directly under the sun, making the room even hotter.

When I raised this with the check-in staff, I was told that no other rooms were available, and a refund wasn’t possible due to the terms of our booking. It was only after speaking with the manager that we were offered a room on the opposite side of the hotel, which was cooler. However, this came at an additional cost for the same room type, just with a different view, which felt unreasonable. The manager was able to refund the rest of the nights and we could then cut our stay short in order to secure alternative accommodation.

By the time the situation was resolved, it was almost 6pm, and despite the inconvenience, no offer was made to waive the extra charge for changing rooms with a total cost landing close to $600 for a one night stay.

The one positive aspect of our stay was the buffet breakfast.

Ultimately, we chose to book the remainder of our trip at the W Hotel nearby, where the experience was far better—most importantly with working AC and an overall more comfortable stay.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Sofitel, especially for businesses who are looking to place staff or clients in comfortable accomodations for their travel.

Arrived at 2pm, room was not ready. Enjoyed our complimentary drinks at the bar which kept us busy until our room was ready. Room was clean, comfortable with good views of the city. Paid for breakfast buffet, very enjoyable. Checkout was easy and the porters were very helpful assisting us with our luggage

Clean, comfy and well equipped room with spectacular darling harbour view.

Very welcoming staffs and service was great.

Ordered late night menu, I suggest to cook tortellini few more seconds as it was undercooked.

We had an incredible stay at the Sofitel Hotel at Darling Harbour! We visited all the beautiful bars, including Lumière on Thirty Five, the Champagne Bar, and Atelier by Sofitel, and they were just lovely. Each venue offered a fantastic atmosphere and stunning views of the harbour, perfect for relaxing after a busy day.

The customer service throughout our visit was outstanding—every staff member was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed and valued. The beds were simply amazing, with luxurious linens and plush pillows that ensured a restful night’s sleep.

The location couldn’t be better, situated right in the heart of Darling Harbour, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. I highly recommend the Sofitel for anyone looking for a top-notch stay in Sydney!

The service from the team on level 35 is outstanding. Cannot be faulted. The rooms are also fantastic with stunning views.
Couple of consistent issues is the housekeeping. It’s simply just that inconsistent. The maintenance of the rooms can also be an issue.
Oh and don’t forget to get your bill before you leave. You’ll be on the phone forever trying to get in touch with someone to get a copy of you need it.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel Darling Harbour. Staff were attentive, the place was immaculate, facilities were excellent. The pool and rooms offer great views. Beds were comfy. Wifi fast. Bathrooms spacious. Buffet breakfast was yummy - so much good food to choose from. The light rail stop over the road was very convenient (only $1 per trip), and you could easily walk into the city, Circular Quay, etc. Everything I could have hoped for, for my little family getaway.

A short 2 day getaway that exceeded our expectations. ALL loyalty status has its privileges and are all well met here. Stunning Club Lounge, and the staff are all so well attuned to the art of service. Grace was tireless, Tristan is the Front Office Manager who is responsible for the proficient way this lounge is run. The rooms have amazing outlooks across whichever side of Sydney that you are facing. Alessandro in Lumiere on 35 was brilliant.
Overall highly recommend this property for a special getaway.
