I spent five superb nights at Port Douglas B&B. The inn is situated in a very quiet area of the city, a couple of minutes' walk from the gorgeous four-mile beach. Its owners, Frieda and Colin were ideal innkeepers. They went out of their way to ensure that I (a solo traveler) had everything I needed.||||My room was spacious and comfortable with high-quality bed linen and a small fridge. Frieda's breakfasts of cereal, tropical fruits, toast, hard-boiled egg, and excellent coffee was a veritable morning banquet, especially for a vegetarian such as myself. It's served on their exquisite patio laden with flowers, shrubs, and bamboo. I could never finish her bounty, so saved the uneaten portion for an evening snack on the patio. This meant that I didn't need to go out again, which helped as I didn't have a car.||||I did eat dinner on my first night at the nearby Beach Shack, which offered tasty tapas, pizza, and more substantial dining options.||||Colin was kind enough to orientate me on my first morning by taking me on a drive around Port Douglas to a beautiful viewing point above the city.||||Frieda helped me considerably with my transportation to and from the airport and with the three tours I took during my stay there. She was unfailingly patient and helpful both before I arrived and throughout the five days I was there.||||I was really pleased that I was well away from the center of Port Douglas in a place where nature and tranquility were the order of the day. My experiences there have made me want to return to the area and explore parts that I didn't have time for on this visit.

Frieda and Colin were great hosts--making us feel very welcome, sharing interesting stories, providing wonderful breakfasts, loaning us books about our special interests. By the time we left we felt like old friends. The setting is lovely--tropical plants and birds around a tile pool, and just a couple minute walk to a world-class beach. Great people and place!

Freida and Colin are a wonderful couple who have lived on land or at sea on the Coral Sea for many years. They have built a garden oasis right beside Four Mile Beach that welcomes and soothes the tired traveller. Freida uses local fruits for her gorgeous breakfasts that are served in the garden which features a pool reminiscent of the middle east. She helped me plan our travels in the Daintree giving me her unbiased advice before booking our travels to Cooktown. There is a beach on which you can walk for miles just on the other side of the street through a jumble of vegetation. There is also a great restaurant for dinners a few doors down. We arrived late and by prearranging it, Freida prepared us a lovely fish dinner because the local restaurant was closed by the time we arrived. The rooms are clean and simple, but adequate and the hosts are interesting in their history and experience. The artwork is lovely and even though this place is outside of Port Douglas, it is quiet and serene. Because we were on the road for some time and needed to do laundry, Freida let us use her machine to do our laundry. That was very much appreciated.

My wife and I spent our pleasure filled honeymoon in Port Douglas. We spent a night at the Four Mile Beach B&B and it was a treasure for a lifetime. When we arrived, Freida and her husband Colin (the owners) greeted us as if we were family. She gave us a tour of the premises and offered us a ride into downtown Port Douglas. Since we were starving we accepted the ride into the city. It was the car ride of a lifetime as Colin (a true prince) took us to the lookout and shared our love of wildlife by pointing out majestic cockatoos and lorikeets. ||||When we got back to the B&B, I instantaneously took off my clothes and put on my bathing suit, as a saltwater pool fit for a sultan was calling my name. I swam, contemplated, and was mesmerized by my surroundings. ||||Breakfast was like the Four Seasons on steroids. The freshest fruits, vegetables and bread filled the table. All I needed was silk linens to feel like a king. The bad news was that we only had a half hour to eat before our flight back to Sydney. ||||We ate and bid adieu to Freida and Colin. There was a bed and breakfast, and we got that plus much much more.

This is a lovely, private B&B, with gracious hosts Frieda and Colin. They went out of their way to make us comfortable when both my husband and I got sunburned while snorkeling (make sure to reapply your sunscreen on these all day snorkeling excursions), by cutting fresh aloe from their garden as a lotion for us. Frieda also loaned me her own leggings and long sleeved shirt in order to go back to the reef another time during our five day stay here. We feel so fortunate to have found their B&B in this extraordinary area of Australia.

All I can say is If ever I know of someone who is going to Port Douglas I will go out of my way to give a recommendation for this B and B. The combined experience of Frieda and Colin outweigh anything one could ever find on line or expect of the most knowledgeable concierge ( Take their advice! ). ||||We had a rental car hired in Cairns . One would I think realistically need a car staying at this location but that's the way to go, no two ways about it.||||Breakfasts include homemade yogourt. Fabulous. The inner courtyard has a unique pool and is just so tranquil.||||Your hosts are genuine people . Mattresses and bedding very comfortable. Frieda in response to my query about no down payment being required sai words to the effect that they liked to think they could trust their guests. Now that is something worth repeating.

How lucky we were to have found this beautiful b&b. Colin and Freida were the perfect hosts. We really enjoyed their company. Breakfast was the highlight of our day 🙂 Every morning we would be served up something different; homemade yogurt, muesli, fresh tropical fruit, cheese, tea and coffee. The garden is amazing! I hope we can get back there one day.

A tasteful venue with gorgeous artwork around a pool and courtyard full of tropical flowers and shrubs. The breakfast of tropical fruits was magnificent. The nearby bush and beach were an additional bonus. Thank you Frieda and Colin for going out of your way to help us (as we were in a sickly state!).
