Last week myself, my partner and my in laws stayed at apartment 120. The apartment itself was rather cozy and well priced, but of course it had its ups and downs…
For starters there’s no air con, on some days just a fan was not enough to stay cool.
The stairs were a major hazard as the carpet seems to not be fully stuck down, at one point it’s completely off and moves when you step on it.
The main bathroom has no exhaust fan, so it gets super hot, steamy, smelly and sticky really quick and could do with a thorough deep clean, a new coat of paint and some new taps/fixtures.
There also isn’t a small hair dryer provided, which is mildly inconvenient.
The pillows and blankets provided all had stains/marks on them, we were also required to bring our own linen and towels, which obviously isn’t the end of the world, but if you’re paying to stay somewhere, the bare minimum would be, to be provided with towels and linen.
The stove wasn’t fully functional and the fridge wasn’t functioning optimally.
There also wasn’t a clothes horse, which again, not the end of the world, but it meant hanging our clothes up in the closed garage, which then meant the car was in the driveway and the clothes took a while to dry, unless put in the dryer.
On a more positive note, the view from the deck was rather nice, there’s direct access to the water as well.
It’s about a 5-10 minute walk to The Pines, which has an awesome range of stores including restaurants/food and beverages, Kmart/clothes stores, multiple supermarkets etc.
The Isle of Palms has a tennis court and multiple pools including a spa, which we used a few times.
Overall, our stay was good, but it could’ve been optimised, had we been provided with basic things such as a clothes horse, hair dryer, linen, towels etc. The apartment could definitely benefit from a new coat of paint all over, re-carpeting on the stairs, an exhaust fan, air conditioning, new bedding and a deep clean all ove.

Chose Isle of Palms as it was more cost effective than most accommodation on the Gold Coast, just 15 mins from airport and a short 30min freeway trip to the parks so convenient and easy to get to. Having a full shopping center within walking distance was very convenient. Unit was nice, unlike other comments we had a split aircon upstairs that kept the place nice and cool. The view of the lake was great and birds came straight up to the back door. Plenty of fish in the lake just jumping out the water. Beds were comfy enough, the pools and spa were great and BBQ facilities were decent enough. oven and tv need replacing but all in all for a family vacation the facilities were pretty good and we enjoyed our stay. Would stay again in future as the cost allowed us an extra 2 days. Be aware the on site restaurant doesn’t cater for dinner, just lunch. The close by RSL is decent enough but can get packed out on weekends.

The place is absolutely disgusting. The people were rude when we called them to tell them that we could not let our children stay in bedrooms with old food, hair, and bugs. The beds were made with sheets that were not cleaned and smelled the actual kitchen has a layer of grease and was sticky to the touch. The outside areas were also covered in dirt and needed a good clean the worst being the actual from door where we needed the enter the property. There was hair and dirt in the cutlery draw. When we phoned after hours they told us that we would have to wait until the morning for them to fix it, we then told them it wasn’t clean enough for our four children and they said to bad it is what it is we can’t do anything until tomorrow. We then told them we would have to leave and try and find new accommodation that was clean for our family. We were stranded for 4 hours before we were able to find something for the evening and our poor children did not get to sleep
Until midnight after travelling from the Hunter and they still charged us 2 nights accommodation after all of that. Stay away they will ruin your holiday and we drove 8 hours to be here!

1. Upon arrival we could not open any of the two front doors.
After about half an hour suddenly one of the doors went open.
Key would not work on patio area either.
Despite promises the key issues were not resolved.
2. In master bedroom there had been flooding on floor next to window. Blanket was soaking wet as well. Rain had been gushing in via a fully open door.
3. The vales of all shower taps had been worn out. The valves of the shower at the other side were so worn down that it made the sound of a hammer drill.
4. The air conditioner had a thick layer of dust on top. We could not use it as the dust was blowing through the unit and two of us has a running nose and a sore throat.
5. Clothes dryer was flooding the floor and walls were soaking wet. This was caused by clothes dryer having no vent whatsoever!
6. Washing machine had a black filter that looked like it had never ever been cleaned.
7. Apartment has a tiny garage, but entry space was too small. In hindsight we understand why everybody was putting their car at the street. When we looked closely, we could see at least two spots where cars had hit the entry wall.
8. Supplies were sufficient for just a few days.
We even had to buy toilet paper.
9. Apartment itself did not have any instructions whatsoever.
10. The instructions we got on the day we arrived was a copy of a copy of a copy etc. The back side was unreadable.
The front side had a drawing with a scribble on it, which we thought indicated the parking spot, but we could not find it and decided to use the very narrow carport.
11. Door posts in several rooms were swollen indicating there had been severe flooding before.
12. Fan in shower room had a lot of dust
13. Bathtub had email chipped away and damaged spots.
14. Tap in kitchen was touching the plank above.
15. Never got a reply from Isle of Palms about the countless issues with apartment 124.

2024-11-11: our reaction to reply of isles of Palms resort
1) We did email this same elaborate report, but never ever got a reply. Why not?
2) We did not see a night manager, neither was there anybody to help with the door lock.
3) We did have to escalate the door lock twice before someone turned up to have a look.
4) The door lock issue was acknowledged, probably cause by sand in the lock and was never solved during our stay of 5 days. We were advised not to lock the outside door anymore!
5) The airco was very high on the wall in a staircase and needs a ladder to clean. If the airco was cleaned, then why was the fan in the bathroom full of dust?
6) Only a few of the issues mentioned in our report to management have been mentioned in the reply.
7) From our point of view not a single issue has been properly resolved, neither during our visit nor in the reply.

The place is located in really good spot. On the water and near shopping. Also close to beaches etc. The staff are friendly, although the reception times are odd and you barely see them. Some basic things like a bottle of dishwashing liquid, some multipurpose cleaner and cloths in the cupboards would go a long way. The room we stayed in really needed an update and a decent clean out. Was quite annoyed that there were trades people constantly parking us in who were working on a unit next door.
The permanent residents on the grounds were always really friendly.

This place is in a beautiful location with beautiful views at your back door , staff very helpful was able to check inn very late after hours able to book 2 extra nights without no fuss …
On another hand cleaning needs to be looked at and deeply improving as we found dirty mirrors, bathrooms were filthy mould in the showers lots of dead ants on lounge window seals , water damaged skirting boards, door frames and bar area . Appliances need updating (oven, range hood and stove top) fresh coat of paint (needed updating and freshening up) couches needed replacing (damaged)

We had our own private pool (not heated) and alfresco area with outdoor setting which was amazing on those swimming days inn , x2 car garage to park car in for safety , x2 swimming pools in resort, x2 hot tubs , x2 tennis courts definitely consider on a return maybe in the near distance future ..

I stayed at the property from the 7th June - 9th June 24 & as mentioned to am very dissatisfied with the room & the state it was presented & sold to me.

I was given an upgrade in a 3 bedroom apartment which was not necessary & On inspection of the apartment I found the following.

Items I found;

*Pillows Stained

*Blankets stained.

*Fake Finger Nail along the skirting boards that don't look like they have been vacuum for a while.

*Broken clothes iron.

*Broken ironing board.

*Shoe left under bed

*Eye-liner under bed

*Socks & a disused foil pill packet.

*Kitchen Exhaust fan Broken & heavily stained.

In general the whole state of the rooms are tired & old & most items require replacement.

*Wall Clock left on the Fridge which seemed like it was there for months with oil stains from the exhaust fan & cooking.

In general the whole state of the rooms are very tired & old & most items require replacement.
I called twice & emailed my compliant twice & asked for the Manager. Both times the receptionist Kathy was not really helpful & I never received a response.

It was a very disappointing stay for the cost per night. This unit & resort is very run down & the pictures advertised are very dated.
