Yeah nah….
It’s a Tavern.
I have eaten there before with a group of women and the food was quite good.
Today I ordered a $25 chicken schnitzel….. what a mistake.
Processed chicken meat in a strange slab shape….obviously pulled off a frozen pack. “Steggles” from the supermarket would’ve been around the same quality….maybe better.
A few chips… pretty good ones and a salad with an overly seasoned dressing. Usual greens and the two obligatory pieces of tomato.
They’re making a tidy profit.
The sweet girl asked me if I enjoyed my food.
Had to tell her it was the worst chicken schnitzel I’ve ever eaten, and why.
Not your fault lady.
Is it too much to expect a freshly breaded and fried piece of chicken breast as a schnitzel in this day and age… especially for $25?
This is the Anglers Arms next to Dan Murphys in Queen Street, Southport.

In reply to the owner’s last comment, my review WAS of your establishment. The only thing I corrected was the price of the chicken schnitzel which was three or four dollars less than the chicken parmigiana. My mistake. Pleased I didn’t order the latter because the chicken schnitzel base would’ve been the same for greater cost.
I did inform your pleasant waitstaff. I didn’t expect any substitution. Would it have been a different preparation? I doubt it. Change to another meal and wait while my partner is halfway through his? Not desirable. Shouldn’t have been disappointing in the first place.

Christmas buffet lunch was delicious, our compliments to the chef! Great variety of food, friendly attentive staff and Santa even dropped by! Appreciate all the Christmas decor and gifts. See you next year!! Thank you

The most wonderful 2004 Xmas lunch with fabulous food,attentive staff,Santa and presents. Excellent pensioner value. Lovely ambience and table settings.The chef even provides a present for each guest

Beer is crisp
Madoka on the bar is an absolute sweet heart. Always happy and smiling and remembers you every time. Good old school service

Lovely staff, great service, welcoming venue, happy atmosphere. Madoka was super helpful and so kind! Shubham was also super nice and friendly! Would recommended this pub for sure 🙂

I don’t have enough word to describe the amazing service we recieved from Shubham, Ethan and max.

Very disappointed in the lack of service.
Orders 5 x meals. Including one chefs special pasta, carbonara. There were 2 x pastas specials on the board. There is no screen display when ordering and this was not read back to me. I paid for and received a seafood pasta instead of a carbonara. The receipt only displays ‘chefs special’. I advised that I ordered carbonara, as my daughter cannot eat seafood . The Anglers Arms charged me an additional $24 because they claimed I wanted to change my order. We paid this as i wanted a meal for my daughter. Very disappointed with their lack of service. Meals were nice.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I absolutely would! The food here is unbelievable & the chefs are very consistent and really put the effort in to make it the best possible experience. I’ve had a lot of meals here but ordered the peri peri chicken today & it would easily be the best meal I’ve had in a long time! Cooked to perfection & I would 1000% recommend it to anyone who is keen for a good feed.
