My husband and I spent two, nights here. Our room was very much on the small side but comfortable and there is a large communal area. Warmer blankets might have been helpful. Marion was very welcoming and gave us lots of useful advice that made a difference to our holiday. Unfortunately she could do nothing about the weather which was very showery!!! The grounds of the house are beautiful and if the weather had been better I’m sure we would have enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Our stay included breakfast which we enjoyed along with our conversations with Marion .

Marion was a delightful host & very informative. It was relaxing & we liked that the nature was away from our accommodation. Spotted a Cassowary walking in the gardens, Goanna & some birdlife. Breakfast was delicious with array of tropical fruits, breads & cereal. Being tucked away in the bush you will not get wi-fi service from Daintree through to Cape Tribulation but some areas you can make a call from your mobile if that is important.

Myself and my partner spent 2 wonderful nights here at the start of July. The whole place is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Marion was friendly and welcoming and gave us advice on what to do in the area and where to head next. Breakfast was delicious - my partner loved the fresh coffee. We would definitely return if we were ever in the area again.

An amazing stay in a truly beautiful home. Marion's home is stunning, with enormous bifold windows that you can enjoy picturesque garden views while relaxing in a hammock or day bed. Very comfortable and clean bedroom and delicious breakfast. Great spot to explore the Daintree with gorgeous Cow Bay close by and a short drive to Cape Tribulation. Thank you Marion for looking after us and for your most generous hospitality.

The homestay consists of two B&B facilities with a shared area within a separate building on the owner’s property. We were luck enough to have the place to ourselves which meant we could spread out with our children without disturbing anyone else. Marion is a wonderful hostess and was a wealth of information and humour about the area and life in general! Breakfast is included, and consisted of fruit and cereal, a welcome change from other hotel breakfasts, some of the fruit and jams from her own garden. |The house is gorgeous. This highlight by far is the exclusive access to the freshwater creek on the property which allows you to wade and even swim in some of the deeper holes. The children through that was ace! The property has a deck with enables you to sit outside and enjoy a drink while the children sleep. We didn’t spend long enough in this peaceful haven, and we would love to visit again. A truly hidden gem in the Daintree rainforest!

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. We had the place to ourselves and were beautifully looked after by the lovely Marion. Marion helped us with recommendations and bookings, made us a great breakfast each morning and entertained us with stories (with occasional input from Brian). Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.

Marion was a wonderful host. The accommodation was so beautiful and I'm sure that in years to come I will remember this place vividly. Set within rainforest and isolated from civilisation, Cow Bay is the perfect way to feel immersed in the Daintree.

The male owner displayed arguably, the most rude and ill-mannered behaviour in any B&B in any place that I have stayed. Cow Bay Homestay B & B. In common with many places in the Daintree area, Cow Bay Homestay has no lighting in the parking area, or along the trail to the building for visitors, which is some 200 meters from the main house - dangerous. The person who greets you is Marion, a pleasant woman with a very strong German accent. The fixtures and fittings are somewhat dated and meant to imbue the place with an Indonesian feeling. There are two bedrooms (both of which are very tiny despite the large vestibule) for which the charge is the same. One is considerably larger than the other, wooden floors and blinds on the windows. Overall, sounds and looks OK. But do read on...||There is nowhere (except the floor) to place any suitcase or backpack you may have brought with you, either in the bedrooms (one bedroom has a small sofa you can use if you need) or their respective bathrooms. Breakfast, which you can choose at what time it is served, is very largely based on the manageress’s garden produce as they have many tropical fruit trees but if you wish to have something different she is happy to oblige. All in all, an OK property, maybe a little isolated for some and not (in our opinion) really interesting. ||However, on our penultimate day I wanted to get some rest in the afternoon but was unable to do because of the racket (loud laughter and continuous over talking) from the owner’s house, which is several hundred metres away. So after about an hour or so I gave up and read a book with my wife on the deck. At about 5 pm my wife and I were joined by the young couple occupying the other room. Both being both visitors to Australia, and considerably younger than I, they were at first a bit shy but we soon struck up a good conversation for some 15 minutes or so. At this point, an elderly man came towards our group on the veranda. He stopped some 10 feet from the veranda and raised his left hand and, whilst waving it up and down, pointing at us individually. He raised his voice and said “not you”!, “not you”! “not you”! “but you talk too loudly” when this statement was issued his bouncing finger was pointing in my direction and he continued, ”can shut up”! This altercation took place over some five minutes or so. I did raise the points that firstly unlike himself, his guests were paying for the privilege of being there, and also because of the racket created by him and his cohorts that same afternoon, had been unable to get any rest. These comments fell largely on deaf ears. His only retort being then we must both be quieter! We left for alternative accommodation the following morning, a day early. Marion neither appeared during nor after the event even though she had been the only ‘host’ we had seen to that point. She had almost nothing to say the following morning when we saw her briefly on our way out. Not even goodbye!||I have no way of knowing if it were just ill temper or some other cause, but his outburst ended our holiday, as well as causing real discomfiture for both ourselves and the other guests. I doubt we will return to the Daintree, which I feel, remains one of the most beautiful places on Earth spoilt only by this oaf’s disgraceful behaviour.
