After cyclone Jasper and floods that this place copped. They have done a remarkable job at getting it back together. We have been a few times and you wouldn't know that they had so much damage it looks the same. Will keep coming back. Love that you can choose power or unpowered sites and that there are showers and toilets available and close by so you can still feel like you are camping in the middle of nowhere.

What a great night at the lions den. Even though it was busy, we managed a nice campsite down by the river, the falls were flowing beautifully. The atmosphere in the pub and eating area was top notch, even had live music on a Monday. Our group had several different meals and all were happy with the quality. Thank-you lions den!

Lions Den is iconic, a must go to place. Amazing what's been done since the flood. Food good & reasonably priced. Tent accommodation was fantastic.

Truly iconic pub!! The atmosphere was great with plenty of seating in the shade. Plenty to look at both inside and out. The meals were great and served promptly. Well worth stopping inπŸ‘

The Lion Den hotel was a disappointment.
We had three attempts to buy a meal. First attempt was a Sunday roast however there was not ample parking; people were acting irresponsibly and trying park in front of the hotel made it extremely dangerous.
Therefore we continued down to look at Bloomfield Cascades. Second attempt - We returned to the pub later in the day, we looked at the menu (pizza only) and specials for the week on the board. We inquired when we could order a meal. We were abruptly told the kitchen is not open for 45 minutes and then the staff member walked off . We left without a meal.
Third attempt- we telephoned the lions den to book into the caravan park with the idea of having dinner at the hotel. We were told that powered sites were $30 per
Night (which was the same as a website we visited), however when we booked in we were charged $40. We questioned the price however were abruptly told a phone quote does not count and was shown a piece of paper that boldly showed $40 per night. I said the website said otherwise, we were ask if we wanted to talk to the manager. By the tone we assumed it would be a waste of time. Thus we paid the $40 but on principle didn’t dine at the pub. Interestingly the people in the caravan next to us had the same experience; phone booking, phone quote of $30 but charged $40 but the caravan next to them were charged $30 for the night .

Is the lions den worth a visit, we would say yes. The building is interesting, the setting is picturesque, but be aware what they say and what they do are two very different things.

It’s an iconic pub that keeps emerging from floodwaters. The beers are cold and the kitchen is generous and quick. Great setting and worth a visit.
