One of the best free RV Stops we had and the town is so lovely

Great overnight spot one block from the main street. Dump point, rubbish bin and water available. Toilets 100 metres away next to play park. Love the town of Childers.

Need to get there not too late. We arrived about 2:30pm and only about 6 spots left. The grass area was more attractive to us than the bitumen, but be aware that there is the cane tramway running right behind the bitumen area, and that during August, and possibly other months, the cane trains run 24 hours a day, although in our situation they stopped around midnight and started again before 5:00am. Then at 4:55am Thursday the garbage truck does its route through the parking area and is not quiet by any means. Just dozed off again after the cane train and garbage truck noise to be further assaulted by the gutter sweeping machine going up and down for quite some time. Not too considerate of the shire to allow the garbage truck and street sweeper so unreasonably early in the morning, surely the schedule could be modified to do this later so as not to disturb the people who have bothered to stop in town to spend their money supporting the local businesses. On top of this is the constant truck traffic along the Bruce Hwy through town all night, it did not make for a very good nights sleep before the long drive later that morning.

Well laid out with drive-through sites. Clean and well maintained. Public toilet within 100 metres. Childers is a pretty town, with a multitude of shopping, eating, and drinking options. It is an easy drive to Brisbane and the Gold Coast from there. Highly recommended.
