I spent a long weekend here with my family in our caravan, and it was perfect.

The pool is great, along with the facilities there. But not much shade, so make sure you have sunscreen.

We were parked near a row of trees that made it nice at the camp sites. And the delivery of fire wood made for some added convenience.

I was really surprised that it wasn't super busy because of the long weekend. It was a great amount of people to make sure that there were heaps of wide open spaces for kids to run around and nothing was too loud from other sites.

They had a good van doing schnitzels (and some vego options) when we visited on the Saturday night, as well as beers on tap and coffee in the mornings. It made camping just that bit better.

Toilets were scattered throughout the area, and exceptionally clean.

No complaints, and I've already recommended to friends.

I genuinely hate to leave a bad review, but in this case, I feel left with no choice.

Our recent visit to Hangar O was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

To start, the entrance code we were provided didn’t work. We weren’t alone—another family behind us had the same issue. We had to wait for about 10 minutes for someone to come and open the faulty gate. This was a poor start to our stay, and it only got worse.

Upon arrival, the registration office was completely unattended, and we weren’t given a map or any guidance on the layout of the campsite.

One of the most concerning aspects of Hangar O is the airfield situated right in the middle of the campsite. The owner casually informed us that this area is a "highly restricted" zone, yet it wasn't clearly marked or properly cordoned off. Here are a few critical concerns:
- Why is there an airfield located just meters away from camping areas?
- If the airfield is indeed a "highly restricted" zone, why isn’t it properly marked or separated by barriers?
- Despite being restricted, we saw children and other visitors playing in that area. Do some guests have ā€œspecialā€ exemptions, or is there a lack of proper enforcement?
- The presence of an airfield should be made explicitly clear on the campsite’s website to avoid surprises for guests.

Contrary to what the website shows, there were very few shaded spots, and the entire campsite was just a large, open field with an airstrip running through it.

The facilities were also lacking: the pool was poorly maintained, full of leaves, and the bathrooms had no toilet paper, which is simply unacceptable for any campsite.

Lastly, one of the staff members managing the campsite was quite rude and dismissive. She made it clear that guests staying in the premium cottages were a priority because they paid more, making us feel as if we didn’t matter.

Overall, Hangar O failed to meet even the most basic expectations, and we left feeling disappointed and frustrated. We do not recommend staying here.

This review was a long time coming remembering when I'm out and forgetting when I'm home. ||My partner and I were booked in for 3 nights early in the New Year 2024. ||South East Qld had weeks of torrential rain prior to our booking and when I rang the property 2 days before our planned arrival I was informed all would be good and that they had cleaned up after flooding. I didn't fancy setting up on very wet ground that may have been under water as recently as the day before so we opted to pull out and we knew the policy implications.||Having read the terms and conditions of the booking I understood the penalty of cancelation due to weather and was happy to be given 6 months credit to use later when the weather improved.||A couple of months later we rebooked for our 3 nights and my 4 x 4 was all loaded as was my fridge full of food the night before leaving.||Unfortunatley that night we received urgent news of a family member being flown to Brisbane from Townsville by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. ||We had to cancel again only to be told we had forfeited our $195. I voiced my concerns and explained my situation offering written proof of the RFDS involvement. All to no avail. ||A few days later I called again pleading my case only to be offered a single night stay to be taken up within 3 months instead of the 3 nights paid for in full.||We opted to not take up the offer out of disappointment when we should have been entitled to 3 nights as paid for.||One other issue was the original booking. The web site pricing was $50 per night per couple as it still is. I don't know if it was Christmas busy period or I missed something which I doubt but we were charged $195 or $65 per couple per night.||I'm not normmally one for giving reviews but this has bothered me for a while now.||Good luck campers. Stay safe.

What a find…huge grassy area to pick a spot to park, pristine toilets, campfires, dog friendly and so quiet at night. The hosts are lovely and getting in is very easy. It felt very safe and we will be back.

Review for Hangar O

Our recent stay at Hangar O was incredibly disappointing, and we feel compelled to share our frustrating experience. Despite the $25 fee for a basic campsite, the trip proved to be one of the worst we've had, especially given its 2.5-hour distance from Brisbane.

1. Entrance Issues: The entrance to the campsite was difficult to find, with a high chance of missing it. Once we did find it, the automatic gate was faulty and very old, causing a queue of cars to enter.

2. Unattended Register Office: Upon entering, the register office was unattended. No map of the campsite was provided before or during our stay, even though there were restricted areas. When the host finally approached us, she was upset and quite rude, questioning why we had entered those restricted areas.

3. No Designated Spots: There were no designated spots for campers, making it difficult to find a suitable site. Additionally, there were no fire pits, which was one of the main reasons we chose to camp as we enjoy sitting around the fire with friends.

4. Lack of Shady Spots: Contrary to the photos on their website, there were very few shady spots. The campsite was essentially a huge field with an airstrip area, far from the idyllic scenes advertised.

5. Dog Issues at the Pool: When we went to the pool, we were told that our dog's barking was annoying the premium cottage guests. Despite explaining that the pool's proximity to the cottages was not our fault (see attached) and that other dogs were barking too, we were told that premium guests should not be disturbed. This felt like a blatant example of discrimination, as if the campsite was only for those who paid more. They even asked us to leave the pool if our dog continued to bark, forcing my partner to take the dog back to the tents.

6. Excessive Rules and Restrictions: We were asked to sign a register paper with numerous rules and restrictions, making the experience uncomfortable.

7. Poor Pool Maintenance: The swimming pool was poorly maintained, with many leaves in the water.

8. Lack of Basic Amenities: There was no toilet tissue in the bathrooms, which is simply unacceptable.

9. Paid Showers: The showers were not free, adding to the list of inconveniences.

10. False Advertising: The beautiful photos on their website are misleading. The reality is a plain campsite with no excitement.

Overall, we strongly do not recommend this campsite. It is an expensive option far from the city, offering very little in return. Our experience was marred by numerous issues, and we left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied.

Edit:
After posting our honest review, the owner sent a message at 9:24 PM that was shockingly defensive and rude. Instead of taking responsibility for the issues, they blamed us and dismissed our concerns. To show you exactly what kind of customer service you can expect here, I'm sharing a screenshot of their disgraceful response. Proceed with caution if you consider staying at Hangar O.

The campsite was a disaster. The entrance was broken, causing long queues and frustrating delays. The staff at the registration office were incredibly rude and unhelpful. They didn't bother to greet us, give us a map, or explain the rules. Instead, they rudely approached us about entering restricted areas.
Once we finally got settled, we realized that the campsite was nothing like what was advertised on their website. There were hardly any shady spots, and the campsite was mostly just a large, empty field with an airstrip. We had hoped to enjoy a relaxing campfire, but we were unable to do so because there were no fire pits available.
To make matters worse, the amenities were in terrible condition. The bathrooms were constantly out of toilet tissue, and several of the fixtures were broken. The showers were also very inconvenient, as you had to pay to use them and the machines were located in a different bathroom.
We felt discriminated against at the pool when we were told that our dog's barking was disturbing the premium cottage guests. We were asked to leave if it continued, which made us feel very uncomfortable.
Overall, our experience at this campsite was terrible. We would not recommend it to anyone.

We do not recommend Hangar O. It’s overpriced, far from the city, and our stay was riddled with issues. We left frustrated and unsatisfied.

Had the best experience there, beautiful cabin beside the pool, grounds were amazing, large sign at entry made it easy to enter the grounds through the gate, coffee cart in the morning and a food van for Grand Final night, a relaxed atmosphere with some great people and the very friendly owners and of course Oscar ! We will definitely be back… great communication with owners before and during our stay, always helpful !

Hot weekend, pool was well used. Lovely green tree'd area, we had caravans & didn't use the setup glamping available.
Our group was well received by owners, going out of their way to accommodate us. We arrived 5 minutes after closing at the coffee shop, re-opening for our group. ā˜•ļø
