The Royal Albert was a nice surprise, although it may not be everybody's cup of tea (ha!). It feels like staying in a Victorian manor, full of old-world charm and vintage furniture. The rooms are fairly large and the ceilings (and windows) are super high, making the room feel very spacious. There is a washing machine, kitchenette and desk in the room - everything you need. The location in central Brisbane is great.||You might not like this place if you're into really modern hotels (the rooms do feel "old"), but I loved it. There are 4 steps inside the actual room itself which might be a consideration if you have limited mobility. There are currently roadworks going on outside on Albert St, but this didn't affect my stay at all (I was on the other side of the building). One downside was that noise from the apartment above was fairly noticeable, including the sound of the plumbing, but I can live with that.||In all a good stay and a great find in central Brisbane.

The hotel was pretty standard but had nice updated bathrooms. Many of the rooms have stairs in them. We did use a sofa bed and it was awful to sleep on, even tried the mattress on the floor and it was not good.
Good price for the amenities we needed. Staff were friendly and helped us deal with the sofa bed situation. Your key card only gets you on to the level your room is so you don’t get much unwanted noise in the corridors which is good. Parking was expensive per night as it was off site due to maintenance works, I am unsure as to how much it will const once the on site parking is available again. Loved that it was right in the city, just a block from the mall. Public transport very close and not far to get to the gardens and walking tracks.

The room’s wifi was nonexistent and the tv signal was scrambled resulting in no tv and no internet. The staff refused to move us to another room. They said the internet is complimentary and not to be expected. The manager said he was too sick to talk face to face and we needed to send him an email. VRBO reached out to them and they still refused to move us even though they said they have a room available. Also, the kitchen is woefully under stocked with dishes to cook with.

The room was fine, but definitely got scammed. Stayed here over a month ago and never recieved our bond back. Called multiple times and they said it’s not their problem. If your rich enough to pay $100 extra bond and not get it back then you should stay here 🙂

Pros: great location, walkable distance to all CBD attractions, Southbank, slightly longer amble to Fortitude valley.
Staff were friendly, service was fine.
Bed was comfortable.
Rooms are large with plenty of space.
Cons: wifi is terrible. I got better wifi before wifi was invented.
Rooms are dated - paint peeling off the roof in places.
Shower was a bit lame, no extractor fan in bathroom either.
The worst thing for me was the aircon which is obviously on a thermostat- all night it kept on noisily turning on and turning off, this woke me numerous times which was very annoying.
There is a strangely worded note on the wall saying to not touch it so I didn’t. Kinda got used to this by night 4 but no good if you are a light sleeper.
I’d love to recommend this place as it is charming but it would not be top of my list to return to.

The rooms were so dated! I was shocked. My room was very clean but the whole hotel suite looked like a mishmash of 80’s and 90’s. The staff were lovely but reception was unattended the majority of time.
There’s works outside the hotel so be prepared to walk a fair distance with your bags. Good location but no views or anything.
