A great couple of hours spent with '
Gecko' and old mate listening to tales, discussing their collection of local items from times gone by, and, of course, panning for gold. Highly recommended if you have time to spare while in the Charters Towers area.

We loved it! We just stopped in on a whim. Allan was informative and engaging and we learnt a lot about the mining history of the area. The kids had a blast panning for gold. Definitely an experience we will remember. Felt like stepping back in time.

We went to pan for gold and gold we found. Our host, Joshua was friendly and knowledgeable. Quick to make a joke but when it came to panning he took his time and explained how to ease out bits of gold for pickers. The rest of the cottage is full of collectables from the past 140 years.
Gold feve? Once it's under your skin it won't easily leave.

A big thank you to Alan at “The Miners Cottage” for a great morning. We arrived with four young children and he was not fazed in the slightest and gave us a wonderful tour of his cottage and then helped us all to pan for gold. My children loved it (they might now have gold fever!) it was a great morning and I thoroughly recommend it anyone visiting Charter’s Towers.

What a great place this little gem was! Allan was a great tour guide and new a lot of local history. He helped me with some research that I needed and I am very grateful. He takes bookings only unless he's there already. $10 pp was an absolute bargain. Thanks mate for keeping the history alive.
