Firstly the drive up to sacred mountain retreat is just beautiful. Welcomed by such lovely and friendly owners. Upon first view of the accommodation (ocean view) it was visibly very clean and tidy. They had filled the fridge with a fruit platter, delicious milk and orange juice. A little jar of chocolates sat on the dining room table with a wine bottle and glasses all ready to go. The owner had also made some chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary which was just so lovely and very appreciated. Went down so well with the wine. Beautiful decor throughout and every single window has a gorgeous view of the forest below and ocean. Sitting out on the deck had a lovely breeze and a great selection of movies. Checking in and out was so easy and upon checking out we were informed we are now VIP members. Overall we adored staying here so much we are hoping to bring the kids back in a fortnight’s time for a family getaway! Can’t go wrong with this place!

Absolutely Loved this place ! We stayed in the Ocean View Cottage. ||||The setting is stunning.... high on the hilltop in the bush overlooking the Ocean! The decor was lovely & the cottage was very clean & fresh. Even a bottle of wine to enjoy. The gardens are beautiful too. Cute little breakfast supplied as well.||||So close to the highway, but you feel so far away from everything. Valla Beach is close by & Bellingen close too.||||The Owner could not have been nicer to deal with..... even invited us in to her house to show us the view.||||The only regret I had was we didn't book for another full day, so I could sit out on the balcony with a book & soak up the peacefulness!||||We will certainly be back & will bring other members of our family to stay in one of the other cottages.

Just had a wonderful 2 days. The owners are delightful. Well appointed cabin very clean, lovely bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival. Pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice and cereal for breakfast. View of the ocean spectacular, very peaceful and lovely bird life. The drive up the mountain is stunning. Was lovely sitting on the verandah with a glass of wine watching the antics of the birds and taking in the views. Would recommend to any one.

If you want relaxation come here. I have never been so relaxed in my life. Not another human being to be seen, just awesome distant views of the ocean and closer views of a well maintained garden which brings birds, oh and kangaroos. Bring your own food so you won’t have to leave when you get hungry. There’s a gas stovetop and a microwave but no oven - don’t worry, you’ll manage as you will only want to sit on the deck and look at the scenery.

My husband and I were here for our anniversary. The cottage in which we stayed was extremely clean and decorated tastefully. Even more importantly, the service we received from Penny and Tony was amazing. We had two massages and a seafood platter included in our booking. The massages were so relaxing and the seafood platter delicious. The wine and chocolates and chocolate mousse for dessert were a nice added gift. In addition, we were supplied with a fruit platter and other goodies in the fridge. A wonderful, secluded get away for couples especially. It's quickly become a favoured place after one visit.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon doing a road trip down the coast and booked in here for 3 nights. When we arrived we noticed straight away the fly screen was full of holes (which we were later told is because of a kookaburra) and when we walked inside it felt so hot, stuffy and musty and were disappointed to find pedestal fans and open windows as our only cooling option - I didn't think to check if the cottage had aircon when booking as you assume for $300 a night that you're getting aircon?
The decor was really dated and tacky - might suit some peoples tastes but definitely not ours and I didn't feel comfortable in there, especially not on the leather couch with flaked off parts.
We contacted Penny the owner regarding the fly screen and she said her husband Tony would come and fix it. He eventually did come with a roll of fly screen but I don't know why this hadnt been fixed before our stay.
We were quite unhappy with Tony's attitude - he was condescending to us when I told him we weren't happy with the cottage and it wasn't what we expected for $300 per night. He said they have a ton of 9 star reviews but 'there's always one who's got complaints' - I can't say I have ever complained about a hotel and usually just deal with it if we don't like something but given the price we paid and my high expectations I was just really disappointed, and upset by that comment! I've worked in customer service, so was surprised that Tony did not attempt to hear us out at all, he made me so upset by his lack of empathy and understanding that I had to walk away as I was getting teary.
We ended up leaving- we didn't want to be there after this whole ordeal, and we managed to find last minute accommodation elsewhere. We would rather wear the $900 cost. Fortunately Penny contacted us later to offer a partial refund.

We stayed here one night as a post-Christmas break from kids. Really beautiful location up the mountain and very secluded self-contained accommodation in a bush setting. Tony was very friendly and relaxing on arrival. Our cabin was beautiful. Quite large with kitchen/dining and cosy lounge area and a large bedroom on another level. Bathroom has a full bath and separate shower. There are two decks to relax and enjoy the bush and coastal views. |Very tastefully decorated and maintained absolutely impeccably with all the bits and pieces you might need.|Take candles, wine, something nice to eat and your significant other. Enjoy!

We love it, it's out of this world. Can't believe we found this treasure. This is definitely our most favourite place so far on our travels, the room was luxurious and of a very high standard of cleanliness and appointed beautifully. The fittings are superb with every detail in place and with added personal touches that make it perfect. The hosts are lovely, Tony delivered our breakfast each morning, and shared his local knowledge of great surf spots and places of interest for us to visit. The food was fantastic too, we had a seafood platter banquet to celebrate our anniversary, it was huge with lobster and home made desert afterward. We couldn't finish all our meal but I'm still dreaming of it. Everything about this place was perfect, we're coming back for sure and definitely having the Seafood platter again.
