Traveling for days in the outback, this was the worst place we stayed overnight. Bugs in the room, cleanliness 1/5. Also, we specifically picked it, planned a detour and paid extra, for a place with a pool. When we arrived, the water in the pool was cloudy, full of bacterial growth and most likely Legionella. No visitors attempted a dip. When I asked the receptionist the following day, she said it was not maintained over Christmas and would not be over the New Year. The busiest period of the year when they can expect actual tourists. Don't recommend. Please avoid.

You would never know this place existed, let alone travel through the town of Bluff in a normal tourist scenario; however I am reliably informed there is the occasional Backpacker.||When it come to a budget stay I am very comfortable recommending this motel and for many reasons. The Bluff Palms is an independently operated Motel that, for me, represents many familiar and memorable elements that make staying a facility like this one regionally unique.||||Bluff is a town of about 400 and it’s mainly known as a change over point for drivers and maintenance crews of Queensland Rail. ||||The accommodation at the main motel is a typical “drive up” style. The rooms are very clean, well appointed for basic comfort and needs. Carpets& beds are very good. Wireless internet access goes for $6.00AUD per 24hours, Cable TV in all rooms. There is a Pool and BBQ area.||||At the end of the hotel walk, at the top of the driveway, is the Office and Dinning room/ Bar.||Food and Bar prices and class are truly a value package. Food quality very fresh and what you would expect of local fare such as Steak. Out back of the hotel are some basic “dongers” used by train crews trying to minimize all expenses. Without looking, you would no know they were there.||||I had a great experience sitting around the bar with an eclectic group of locals swapping stories and jokes in a relaxed setting. This motel was the friendliest, and most hassle-free I have experienced in regional Australia in a long time. Recommended for anyone looking for what is best about local Queenslander, down to earth hospitality at a great price away from the main beat.||I would return in a flash. Good work!

If your thirsty or need a bite to eat, when passing through or staying in Blackwater, this is w oath a visit - a traditional pub full of character - ice cold beers and a descent menu - food was good, steak cooked perfectly but it did take a longtime to come out, tasty enough though. rarely find these good old fashioned pubs in the city anymore.

allan and june are the best hosts and the friendliest people you would want to meet rooms cleaned every day you want something just ask and its there and they do fantastic meals and any beer for five bucks cant beat that in a stubbie or can especialy in north queensland.
