Stayed here for 11 weeks for work.
Great location.
Hit and miss with house keeping. Suppose to get cleaned once a week. Had to remind them to clean. Floors were filthy, had to wear thongs all the time. Hardly got vacuumed, stained badly. Tiled area didn’t get mopped, very dirty floors. Shower didn’t get cleaned properly, mould in the shower. Toilet didn’t get cleaned weekly. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, had to buy a mattress topper. Blinds are hopeless, so bright during the night. Asked to get fixed, still bright. My room was left open a few times, told staff. Couldn’t sit outside, due to all the wasps. For the price Education Queensland paid, would not recommend

Great location and views. Room didn’t feel clean, stains on the carpets throughout, after cleaners had been the showers still had hair and gunk in corners, sinks still dirty, 98% of the staff unfriendly. On arrival wasn’t greeted, no “welcome, we hope you enjoy your stay” or anything like that, their faces would have cracked if they smiled, felt so unwelcomed. Out of the whole staff team, 2 cleaners (looked like twins), were the most lovely people here. Smiling, friendly and so helpful!
Won’t be back and won’t be recommending my friends and family to stay here. This place is definitely not a 4 star hotel.

Been staying here at least once a year for the last 8 years.|I had some issues with the unit we stayed in Jan 2025. Post the stay I emailed Itara office outlining my issues along with some photo examples. Within 1 day the owner had contacted me to discuss & commit to resolve the issues. Sometimes things do not go as expected, but I cannot fault the customer follow-up/service.|As always the location/layout & particular staff are 5 star

The first stay at Itara wasnt very nice. The room was absolutely disgusting. I spent the first night there cleaning it. The bathroom had hair left all over it and about an inch thick of mould and scum in the shower door track. The dishwasher was dirty, the dishes had mould on them in the cupboard. This is just a tiny amount of what was wrong. I complained and was offered another room which I didn't accept, as I didn't want to have to clean another unit. Then on my second stay, the room was much nicer and better located but was still not clean. There was about and inch thick wall of dust behind the bedroom TV, the air-conditioning in bedroom didnt work all the blinds were broken, dishwasher again was not clean, lint left in dryer and washing machine and the list goes on. The secure parking was not working, front door and lift accessibility was not working so was just accessible to anyone. I had a camera in my room as it's a bad neighbourhood, when cleaners came in to service the room they covered the camera. Not sure why as they were there to service the room. When I complained, Shaun the manager proceded to then accuse me of being in the wrong for having a camera in my unit watching my stuff whilst I was at work. Then proceeded to try and kick me out and refund the remainder of the stay. Which didn't happen. All in all this is definitely not a 4.5⭐️ stay and the management and cleaning staff and standards are very poor.

Room very dirty,service not helpful, staff rude,reception on arrival rude and unorganised, my daughter booked the rooms for staying and, getting dress for a for their the wedding on the day(28/06/2024)_(30/06/2024)
Booking 12 months ahead, all paid together,but we paid for our own accommodation. On check-in, our room was ready,and they were very unprofessional with the way they handled situation.
Had to fight to get the keys from them to get into the room later.
They stated that they were going to text us when the room was ready.
This didn't happen,I had to ring them.
checkin was at 1400 hours, insteadI had to ring at 1805 hours as not text message.
Another problem, rooms weren't close together, which would have been something that I was expecting to be the case,in this situation.
Very disappointing as we were the bride's parents.
Would not recommend this holiday unit to any people ,my family and friends staying there as well,were not at all impressed with the accommodation.
Very very dispointed ,
Brought up the situation,and decised it with them on the phone,not prepared to even help to fix it in anyway, no outcome ,no changes were addressed,and did not talk to us in person.
It is the worst accommodation we have experienced in all over not just Queensland but Australia.

We recently stayed for an extended stay of 2 weeks while our children received medical care in Townsville.
The location is 5 star and fantastic for families with young children. The river walkways, playground, pools and cafe make the easy with young children.
The room itself is basic but ticked the majority of boxes. A big negative for us was the unit which was mainly carpet did not come with a vacuum and was only serviced once (on my request) during our stay. With small children and carpet at a minimum the unit should come with a vacuum. We also found the kitchen wasn’t as equipped as we would have liked (no oven trays provided).
A huge positive is the secure parking!
We would recommend these units to our friends and would definitely stay again.

Overall an okay hotel, lovely check in staff and a good location at a fair price.

However, after dealing with the manager (who many others seem to have had similar negative experiences with) I've had to leave a 1 star review.

Prior to going to bed I noticed the alarm clock was unplugged, I had to get up early for an important event so figured I'd plug it in as a back alarm after my phone.

I plugged it in without issue then upon turning on the switch the wall plug and cord exploded resulting in me suffering an electric shock. The electric discharge caused the cord to break leaving the alarm clock and it's cord seperated from the wall plug.

I contacted the night security guard who came up and removed the broken clock and wall plug (sitting in the socket still) and apologised stating he would let the team know in the morning.

After a few days I hadn't heard back from the manager so I called them myself. They advised that an electrician attended the next day and found the wall socket to be in good working order. This was expected as the fault didn't occur at the wall socket but in the alarm clock cord (I assume it had been frayed and internally damaged resulting in the above issue). I explained I appreciated they had an electrician check the wall but ultimately was requesting a refund as I had suffered an electric shock due to a faulty alarm clock. I thought this was a reasonable request.

They advised me to put a request in writing which was fair enough. However, after clearly writing my request they denied a refund due to the wall socket being in good working order and writing my statement was not supported by their electricians inspection.

Of note they quoted their electrician's report in a previous email: "Confirmed with management that the clock radio reported as faulty has been appropriately disposed of" It's quite unclear how they can hold that my statement wasn't supported by the electrician's inspection when by their own account the electrician didn't inspect the clock radio itself.

I stayed here for a business trip and was blown away by how spotlessly clean, spacious and well equipped this place was. The one bedroom apartment comes with a huge fridge, new dishwasher, plenty of cutlery/crockery and a separate study. Perfect location on the river front with amazing views and a large shopping centre near by. Super friendly and accommodating reception staff too.
