Made a booking as it stated the accommodation had parking, upon calling the receptionist I was informed "The parking is off-site, 3min walk, not undercover and that it would cost $15day". It's currently raining in Townsville, you have to also walk past a building that convicted criminals attend.

I asked for a refund as I had only just made the booking, the receptionist told me it was up to booking.com, I called booking.com and they told me it was up to Madison Plaza. I followed the procedures, gave valid reason as to why I believed the service that I paid for was not correctly advertised. I called Madison Plaza back after submitting the request, they purposely stalled so as to not attempt to rebook the room to another guest and ensure I would be charged.

Now after a lengthy delay I have been changed the full amount exceeding $500, Madison Plaza your staff are unprofessional and your advertised services are false. Imagine if you had waived my fee, refunded my money and received a stunning 5 Star Review.. I hope you enjoy my $500, it was not worth a dissatisfied customer and based on your ratings so far.. the business is declining.

To explain why your staff are unprofessional, I was told "You should email Madison Plaza for a technical reason as to why they charge $15 for parking". I'm sorry, but what relevance does that have to do with seeking a waiver of fees and a refund.

This hotel was okay, but I won't be back. The room was clean and quiet, but the hotel is located in a rough part of town.

I also found that the service was less than accommodating. As my flight arrived at 8 AM, I asked for an early check-in. The best they could do was 1:30 PM, a half hour before the standard check-in time.

What, not one room had been cleaned before 1:30 PM when checkout was at 11 AM? Sorry, I don't believe that.

I also asked whether my checkout time could be extended by one hour. I was told to ask on the day of my departure, which I did, only to be told that the clerk was not authorised to give late checkouts as the hotel was fully booked.

They'd have you believe that every room in the hotel is cleaned at exactly the same time.

I think that this hotel has rigid policies from which the staff can't, or won't, deviate.

It was okay value for money, but I found the customer experience wanting.

This hotel is hardly a 4 Star, more 2 Star imo. The bathroom was dirty with mold in places, the tv didn't work correctly and the so called Carr Park is off site, not monitored and cost an extra $15.00 a day. It isn't even locked up at night. The rooms need a serious makes over. The staff are less than attentive and the foyer was dirty and univiting.

I feel that 1 star would raise the average.|This place was awful.|I booked for 2 nights and had I felt safe i would've left at midnight, night 1.|3 separate junkie fights on my level so there was no sleep. |I left after one night and requested a refund for my 2nd day of carparking, and due to the nature of the stay, a refund request for night two. I was given the managers email address and 10 days on have not heard anything, despite following up with calls and emails. I feel bad for the young family that checked in at the same time as me. This would've been a traumatising experience for them.|The scattering of cockroaches when I turned the light on during one of the fights was surprisingly not the worst thing about my stay at Madison Plaza.

This review won’t mean anything because this hotel is one of the cheapest in the area and it’s full on a weekly basis. However, I can honestly say that my stay wasn’t the best.

Some of the staff are good and unfortunately, some aren’t.

My last night there was absolutely horrible, aircon didn’t work and was told it was working. I wanted to Complain again but after speaking to the receptionist it felt like it would have been a hassle calling the manager, so we just put up with it. Also, the lads next door decided to arrive home at 3 am and began to party again so it was just a phenomenal sleep.
Walls crushed in, rust in the bathrooms, tv not working correctly. There is one washing machine and a dryer on level 2.

There is no security so be mindful in the morning; people will wait outside and walk in when someone walks out. Teens drinking and asking for smokes was normal while sitting outside the hotel, which was interesting because there’s a police station opposite the hotel.

After seeing the police regularly visit and noticing some of people in and around the building, I’m guessing it’s a place that the police or other agencies drop off people every now and then. I’m confused why there isn’t someone on the desk 24 hours or security while the desk isn’t staffed.

Massive shout out to the cleaning staff though; they were extremely friendly and helpful and allowed me to use their vacuum cleaner every now and then. Also, they gave us new towels on a daily.

The pub downstairs with pinball machines was good.

The room is not really like in the pics as much but it is clean, there are some dust in the air conditioner, overall, it is ok for me , staffs are very good and helping. In my room there is a little problem of shower not be able to change its purpose to use the bottom faucet but the water is nice and hot, sink work well.

If you read other reviews, you’ll see there’s a bit going on. My experience was this - the place is a bit dated and definitely in need of some major TLC. It does need some attention paid to it - some of the rooms need an upgrade because it appears that they haven’t had anything done to keep them in shape for a good while, and I stayed in 3 different rooms over 2 visits. The free wifi advertised is not a thing, I found, which was a minor irritation.|On the plus side, it is in a great location, and the staff are fantastic! The staff I dealt with were super friendly, made sure I had a room when I arrived early with bulk baggage, and allowed me to store my bags after checkout time because my flight was later in the afternoon. Cannot fault them for this.

Madison is a budget option, it has a great location and the rooms provide necessary amenity. There isn't a kitchenette, no microwave or toaster. The air conditioners need more frequent cleaning. I would recommend the staff, they are superstars. If you're booking a cheap place I would recommend staying here.
