The Ultimo Sydney - Haymarket, New South Wales

An upmarket hotel within easy walking distance of public transport and Sydney attractions. Unexpectedly our stay in Sydney was extended by 3 nights so we booked a room here last minute. It was ready right away and we were able to check in at 11:30pm with no issues. Our room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. There was a heatwave in Sydney at the time but our room was consistently cool which was great. Staff were friendly and the onsite laundry facility for guests was handy too. We had an external construction elevator right outside our window which was a quite loud at 7:30am. The hot water also went out for a few hours one night but the reception desk communicated well with us and it was restored. A good stay and this will be a hotel we will consider for future visits to Sydney.

I booked an Ultimo Queen room for an overnight stay as I had an early flight the next morning. The price, I paid, was very reasonable for the location. The reception staff member checking me in was friendly and I was given the key to room 134.|The room was small, but adequate for overnight. It was very clean, had a comfortable bed, nice bathroom with fluffy towels, bathroom products and a hairdryer. It also had a window with a view of the street, bedside lamps on both sides of the bed. There was no wardrobe but a movable rack to hang clothes. This was not an issue for me as wardrobe space was not required. Good for 1/2 nights and I would definitely stay here again, if the price was competitive, when a good night's sleep was needed before an early flight.

Room was pretty small, my towel had a huge hole in it, no water pressure in the shower, bathroom tiles could do with a good scrub. The blinds are crappy so the room was bright as all hell first thing in the morning, so couldn't sleep in. Bed was comfy. Guy at reception was nice. Good location for good Asian food in Chinatown. Was OK, probably wouldn't stay again though

Awesome location just across the street from Market City. Room was very spacious and high ceiling. All basic amenities you need with very decent hairdryer and good paper and tissue. Bathroom design was practical with mini shelf and clean.

Best part for us was that it's dog friendly, as it's the first criteria we were looking for.

You could hear neighbours if they spoke loudly but nothing too bad. Bed a bit on the soft side but big and comfortable enough.
Staff was friendly and overall pleasant stay.

the air conditioning was broken. the room was not clean. the water was often cold. the shower head was too low. The windows let in all the noise, so it was loud. In general it was very noisy. There was no proper duvet cover and only one duvet for two people.

Great for the solo travelers who aren’t keen for a hostel! Conveniently located if you are relying on public transport during your stay.

All the staff were lovely. I really appreciated Pear and Lachlan for being so warm and welcoming, and for the spot on recommendations! They made a difference to the quality of my stay 🙂

The walls have minimal soundproofing but all you really hear is muffled sound. The bed was heavenly so I had zero issues getting good sleep. Well stocked rooms with all the basics you need.

Overall a high-value hotel I would recommend!

We only got to experience the useless staff at the front desk of the ultimo on the 7/12/2024. Overbooked the hotel, told us we did not have a booking. We pre booked the room months in advance with an upgrade to the room which was all confirmed through email. Your staff did nothing in help finding or suggesting somewhere else to stay & left us stranded in Sydney looking for alternative accommodation. I Will be emailing the ultimo to elaborate frustration.

I don't post so much feedback in TripAdvisor until I had to, which is now. Me and my husband check-in smoothly and friendly. My husband had to go out to get some snack, and I was in the room alone. I came out of the shower. I heard someone opening my door and I was curious said excuse me, there were two men at my door they opened the door with the room key they were holding. As soon as I was about to say anything else, they ran away. In-depth, I was completely naked when I had to encounter these men. I called reception immediately about the incident, and a guy said I'm sorry, "I'll have my manager talk to you about it" so I waited for about 30 mins or less because I have never experienced anything like that before. My mind was furious ? ? so I called back again, and another guy at the reception said I'm sorry, It won't happen again, and we have discontinued all the key for your room." My brain wasn't processing right with that answer. I wasn't here for any compensation but was really furious that someone would take this seriously. If this had happened with my husband, people would think oh it's fine." Hell, NO, it's a security concern whether it's female or male. Are we not secured in our room even or what?
