It's not a grand place to look at the but the hostel's services are more than just a hostel.

Prices are better compared to other hostels in Sydney, they have breakfast and dinner served and the hostel is maintained by their housekeepers.

They do operate digitally so you might need to be a little bit knowledge of technology when checking in here.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Azzurro Pod Hotel - Potts Point! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome and were always available to help with anything I needed. The atmosphere was vibrant and social, perfect for meeting fellow travelers.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged with plenty of storage space. I particularly loved how well-maintained the common areas were—whether it was the cozy lounge, the spotless kitchen.

The location was unbeatable, with easy access to public transport and major attractions, making it a convenient base for exploring the area.

What truly stood out was the attention to detail: secure lockers, fast Wi-Fi, and thoughtful touches like complimentary coffee in the mornings.

I can’t recommend this enough! It’s the perfect combination of comfort, affordability, and an incredible community vibe. I’ll definitely be staying here again the next time I’m in town!

Location perfect
The hostel is really nice like I stayed 3 weeks there but it really need a fresh renovation for some bathroom.
Breakfast and dinner included is really appreciated by backpackers but they should change a little bit the menu !

It is very far from the photos. The room was cold, humid and there was only one toilet/shower for the whole building!! You had to go to the next building (in the rain). It was not clean bc of the amount of people using it. No hairdryer no hangers. My bed was full of dark hair when I checked in. I contacted them on the app and they cleaned it and gave me a second blanket which I appreciated. Breakfast was toast and cereals. It was crowded but ok. Breakfast is until 9 am. 9:05 the cleaning lady? there wanted everyone to clear the table... She never greeted back nor smiled. I didn't feel welcome there. People do their calls sitting on the narrow stairs. It was always noisy. No activities.

FYI/TLDR - good reviews are forged. Do not stay here if you expect the bare minimum of service. Serious failings in the staffing/management.

The room
+ black out curtains on bed
+ sink/storage area

- WiFi nonexistent
- very small for 4 people
- no aircon so windows open all night -> so many mosquitos

Service
No positives here, basically nonexistent service. The check in is ‘remote’ so you never actually talk to someone face to face. None of the staff wear uniform so it is not clear who is a worker. The reception is almost never manned and the French(?) guy that is sometimes there has a condescending/non-professional attitude.

Hostel offers free food but it became a joke how slow it would take to serve (due to constant admin issues/slow pace of servers). We’re talking 30 mins + waiting for bland rice and bony chicken every night. The breakfast I gave up on after the second day - very cheap bread and cereal the only option.

A serious issue came up re €100s of dollars worth of my clothes going missing and it was not treated with any urgency - I ended up having to solve the problem myself (I put my clothes in an empty washer and came down with them locked in the dryer, then taken to someone’s room on completion). As far as I am aware nothing was said to this guest and he blamed me for his own mixup.

I came back to my room one day with everything in the previously mentioned storage/sink area thrown on the floor in a pile. The next day the staff came in the room to tell us to tidy the room? The mess was made by the staff with no explanation. His response? “I’m one of the good guys” then proceeds to take photos of our belongings.

Food service/cleaners look overworked and mentioned several times their pay is very low (I actually think below minimum wage).

Unusually, no staff living onsite so at night any issue takes over an hour for someone to travel to the site to resolve (e.g. loud noises from the terrace area at 1am). Everything is done through the Goki app.

Ultimately, a really bad place to stay if you are not a teenager who has never stayed in another hostel before (which is the majority of the guests staying) and are not aware/care how poor the quality of service is. Maybe ok as a stopover for a couple nights.

The location
Good for access to get to the eastern suburbs/CBD but not a very nice area in itself. Lots of food options nearby. Pubs/bars not the best.

Where do I start?

The WORST hostel I've ever been.

On my arrival day on October 25th, after back-of-clock international flight, I finally checked in at 2 P.M (be mindful they STRICTLY only allow check in at 2 P.M and would NEVER accommodate early check in). After one hour staying in the room, suddenly there were two technician came to fix the sink. It was so LOUD, I messaged the Venus Group Whatsapp number and they told me I was lying cause their cleaner said there is no technician in my room (while the cleaner didn't even came to my room).

I asked them to find me another room, they said they were fully booked. But I insisted as I haven't had enough sleep after my back-of-clock international flight, after few arguments they moved me to another room.

And then it doesn't stopped there.

On October 26th, they messaged me to explain about check out time and regulations as I'm checking out on October 27th. It does say they offer LATE CHECK OUT with additional payment. I messaged the Venus Group Hotel to ask for late check out, they refused. And I insisted because I will be home late due to a concert I attend the night before. After few arguments, I finally allowed to do late check out with extra payment. They warned me by saying this is an exemption cause they normally not allowing someone to do late check out. If it so, why do they offer it in the first place though?

Very passive aggressive behaviour for someone who run a business in hospitality industry. It might be the cheapest option out there, but beware as their very bad service will cause you a BIG headache for the entire trip.

All of this inconvenience was recorded on my Whatsapp.

10/10 WOULDN'T RECCOMMEND.
